| We've been visiting Los G since
2001 and have firmly established our favourite restaurants. Ones
to definitely visit are El Meson - Domingo and Co. are the best
hosts you could wish to have. Anything from their menu, to whatever
takes your fancy, is never too much trouble. We even have a 'tab'
and just settle up on leaving the island, and we can vouch that
they are an honest bunch. Dont lose sight of La Paloma del Puerto
neither, just down the road from El Meson. Conny and Dietmar are
fantasic people. Their wild boar is out of this world. True home
cooked grub and brilliant hosts - beer is good as well. Also worth
a visit - El Pescador II, Miranda's and the Chicken Shack. Disappointments
are Harbour Lights (food tasted like it was from a packet, heated
up) and Sinatra's (hugely overrated, food below average, waiters
need a personality transplant). For drinks, cannot recommend Highland
Paddy II - VERY overpriced, but never used to be !!!! Los G is
still full of plenty of places where there is good value for money
so enjoy, but just beware!

Have just returned from our 5th visit to the area
and once again must tell everyone about Las Brasas. This is a
family run restaurante in Puerto Santiago and it is placed between
the Fettucine Inn and The Chicken Shack. We first ate here on
the first night of opening some 3 years ago and have become friends
of the family, German (papa), Georgette (mamma), with their sons
Guido and Jason. The food and wine selection is very good and
exceptionally priced for the value you get for your money. You
are made very welcome and we noticed that like us, many people
were returning customers, proof indeed of quality and value and
friendship. You will be guided and advised if needed on both the
menu and the wines on offer, we cannot fault anything other than
the weight we seem to gain after eating here for most of our holiday!.
If you do nothing else, take the time to walk up to the restaurante,
stop for a drink in the local Bar Central before making your way
round the corner to Las Brasas and enjoy the experience.

| Hi
I recently visited los gigantes with my boyfriend and we highly
recommend 'Mariposa's' as an excellent place to eat - the food
is top
quality and the service is really friendly too ! You're missing
out if
you dont pay it a visit!

Visited Los G for the first time
in June 2005 - really enjoyed and will be back.
We dined three times at the Juan Carlos restaurant in Pasaje
de Jacaranda - fantastic food and service, bit pricier than others
but well worth it.
Thought Sinatras average enough, Little Italy on the hill to
the marina also very good. |
| May I suggest LOS GOTEROS. It is about 3 miles
above Piedra Hincada but well worth the trip. Meats are superb and
prices very reasonable. The village is Tejina de Guia |

We always thought of Sinatra's as a treat, great food and service
but then it all changed. Last year we booked it for our silver
wedding anniversary dinner. My husband had been in earlier to
choose the table but on the evening, we were given a totally different
one in an almost empty restaurant and then when we asked for our
chosen sparkly, they didn't have it. The whole feel of the place
was so bad, we left and went across to Mistinguett (sp?) where
the food is always excellent and the wine always cold. Wasn't
Sinatra's taken over? I'm sure it's now under the same banner
as Little Italy, which when we first visited LG about 10 years
ago, was still the Tamara and very popular. There used to be a
singer/guitarist who was quite unobtrusive and the food was definitely
better than it is now.
We're out again in Sept and amongst the fave places to eat will
be El Meson, Harbor Lights, El Pescador and Mistinguett. |

Just returned from 2 weeks in
Los Gigantes 15th March until 29th March 2005 and very nice it
was to. A few comments:- The new Indian restaurant Krishnas's
just up from the Bamboo Bar was an absolute treat excellant food
and prices not to bad, we did find however that the prices had
gone up quite a bit from last year we got a shock when we went
to the Wayside Tavern (I think that was the name opposite the
Oasis down some stairs)Although the food was very nice home made
chicken pie/ roast dinner etc. it was very pricey and no children's
menu although they did say they would do half portions for children
we were charged the full whack and at 11 euros just for a main
course I would give that a miss next time. You cannot beat the
old Chicken Shack for value and pure entertainment Steve was in
his element. The whole place was still very quiet even over the
Easter time. Stick to the local restaurants in Puerto De Santiago
excellant value for money and very family orientated, Camber Bar
for drinks and down in Los Gigantes don't miss out on Yates Bar
mind you the measures are huge be careful or you will have some
head in the morning.

When restaurants
are being discussed, one that nearly always misses out and deserves
not to is EL DIQUE on the Marina at Los Gigantes. It is really
great and, whilst it is at the far end, is often overlooked.
On a recent visit to Los Gigantes we ate there on eight of our
fourteen nights, brilliant food at reasonable prices.
We like to think of it as our little secret although locals,
and by locals I mean Tenerife locals, use it a lot as well. There
was always a great atmosphere when they were in, it made us feel
as though we were actually somewhere foreign.
It is well worth supporting restaurants that are run by real
locals as they could all disappear into British ownership.Thu

I agree with above comments.
My husband and I went twice during our stay and it was excellent. The
atmosphere is very friendly, and we will definitely be back next
year,God willing!!!
One of the Best restaurants in the area----BUT DONT TELL EVERYBODY!!!!

Love los gigantes, eating out is
part of the fun on holiday. We went to the chicken shack twice,
great food and the waiter think owner too is great , what a laugh.
Its a must if there on holiday. Wed Feb 09, 2005 |

I think El Lucero "Spice of Life" is well
worth a visit. Its in the tiny Cueva del Polvo village on the top
road between Los Gigantes and El Varadero. Rob is english but does
excellent curries etc and Gina is really nice and helpful. They
also have a folk club on a Friday night which sounds like a weird
combination but it really works, and you can't get a table on Fridays
unless you have booked ages before. Kay Sat Feb 12,

I think the best resturant by far
is fettucine Inn in Puerto Santiago. It doesnt look much from the
outside but the food is fantastic and reallycheap. We ate here most
nights for about 15 euros...bargin Sat Feb 05, 2005

I think the best food and most certainly
best value for money can be had at the Paseo (ally way ) in Puerto
Santiago, there is Fettucine Inn, Las Brasas and Chicken Shack all
next door to eachother, certainly less expensive than central Los
Gigs and full of characters - "Jason" who used to be at
the Royal Sun and "Chicken Legs Steve" of Radio fame!
Take Calle Los Angeles opposite the post office and then turn right
by the "Congelados" freezer centre and you're there. Only
drawback some building work going on at the moment but they've always
packed up and gone home by dinner time. Wed Nov 19, 2003 Sally |

I would like to recommend the
OCEAN DRIVE CAFE/BAR, situated on the left hand side next to the
gift shop and bar Calipso. Its the best food in Los Gigantes it
also has the best and biggest tv screen where you can watch all
the best footie games and other sports or your favorite soaps.Richard
& Samantha are your hosts and they will make you most welcome.
Another thing that I noticed was that their toilets are the cleanest
ones I have seen, which I always think is a good marker for any
eating place.Keep it upwe will see you again in June Richard
& Samantha 18th April 2004 |

Hola!! We came back from Los
Gigantes three days ago.
Here our restaurant-comments:
- "Little Italy" (on the way to the harbor): Very good
food, but there is ONE waiter (the one who has a squint), who
is very very impolite!!! But the parrot "Manolo" is
very cute!! Bring along a walnut!
- "Sinatra's" (behind the church): Very tasty! A rose
for the lady! But a little bit more expensive than other local
restaurants.
- "Pekin Garden II": The fish tastes strange/curious.
Don't now why, but it taste not good.
The "Saté" was ok!
- "Hong Kong": The vegetable tastes like nothing! But
the "Saté" was one of the best I ever ate! Only
the meat (Spareribs) was of inferior quality!
Only one tip at least:
Every waiter gives you bread and butter! It costs extra! If you
don't eat it, be careful and check the bill:
In the most restaurants you'll find the bread/butter still on
the bill! That's annoying!
Best wishes and happy holidays,
Simone from Cologne, Germany

El Meson, Carretera General, Puerto de Santiago - we went at
the end of April and it was the only restaurant that was full
every night, must be difficult to get in during high season. Lovely
family run restaurant where you are made to feel special, the
food is excellent and the atmosphere great. Great night out for
families, groups and couples alike - we ate there every night
bar one.
