Playa de la Arena beach, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, receives its twenty-first consecutive year of the award “Blue Flag Beach”.

The beach is 175 metres in length and is between 50 and 75 meters wide, has 9 public toilets and 20 showers, it is well geared up for those people with mobility difficulties or blindness. Medical facilities are located just 20 metres from the beach

This recognition is granted on the basis of accessibility, water quality, environmental information to users and respect for legislation

6 other beaches that have won this recognition on Tenerife. El Médano and Leocadio Machado, in Granadilla de Abona; Las Vistas, in Arona; El Socorro, in Los Realejos; Playa Jardín, in Puerto de la Cruz; and La Arena, in Tacoronte.

Blue flags are granted by an international panel of judges made up of representatives of the Nations Programme for the Environment, the World Tourism Organisation, the International Life-Saving Federation, and of a range of organisations devoted to the conservation and protection of nature.
