Stephen McKenna, councillor for Santiago del Teide who appeared in court in Arona last Thursday was acquitted of all charges against him.

The complainant made no accusation, and withdrew criminal proceedings. There are no further appeals against the ruling.

Councillor McKenna was accused and charged for propositioning a minor for sex in an incident on July 21st last year.

The truth coming out in court came as a great relief for the councillor. The incident had made front page news as well as a topic for local gossip, which no doubt affected his business, but the tremendous support and good wishes from locals and swallows helped him through the very difficult past 6 months.
