Ambulancia  Drivers and support staff who man ambulances, operated by private companies which are contracted by the Health Service to providing services to hospitals and rehabilitation units will receive a 20% pay rise, as of this month.

The Health Service finally agreed to the ruling by the arbitrator after employees accepted that the pay-rise would not be back-dated to January. The strike forced thousands of patients to cancel appointments over the last three months, while thousands more payed taxis to get to hospital.
