Irish woman Elizabeth Butler, known as Lizzie, 68 years old, walked out of her hotel the Esmeralda Playa, Costa Adeje, where she is staying with her family, on Sunday morning and has not been seen since.

According to her niece Olivia Doyle, Lizzie -who suffers from a mild form of Alzheimer’s- disappeared while the family were waiting to be checked in at the hotel, just an hour after flying in from Dublin.

Olivia and her sister Mary have spent two days searching the area around the Hotel, calling Lizzie’s name out.

Posters with a recent photo of Mrs Butler and contact details in several languages have been put up in the area and taxi companies, local hospitals and Tenerife Airport have been alerted to be on the lookout for her.

She is 5 ft 1 (1 metre 54) with black/grey hair. She was wearing black trousers and a light blue top, white trainers and took a black sports bag with her.

The family is receiving consular assistance and police are appealing to the public for information.
