Doctors, nurses and hospital ancillary staff are on strike today (24th November) throughout the region as the dispute with the government escalates further.

Hospital staff say the government has done nothing in the past eight months to implement an agreement signed with unions to improve working conditions and increase pay. Skeleton cover has been imposed in all hospitals and health centres, which will operate as if it were a Sunday. Patients face a long wait at Accident and Emergency Units throughout the day due to the strike. Thousands of outpatient appointments have had to be rescheduled.
