  • Just came back from again two wonderful weeks at our Tamara apartment and during our stay we found restaurant La Pergola ,
just left from Hotel Barcelo , what an outstanding restaurant  ;D ;D the food was very good and if you look into the kitchen
you can see a rather young chef-cook doing an outstanding job , he is an artist  :o :o, he makes from each course a masterpiece,
pls try it yourself , it is in average a little more expensive but worth it all the way , bon appetit

  • This restaurant is closed from the 16 May 2010 to 22 June 2010 for holidays.

This must be the most expensive restaurant in the area.

Whether that indicates value is another matter.

  • Very expensive!  The waiter took our orders for eight people but he insisted we leave him to choose the appropriate vegetables.  Unfortunately he forgot to bring any, which we pointed out but it took so long for this to be sorted out the veggies arrived at the same time as we were ordering puddings!  Completely spoiled a very expensive evening.

  • Have just returned home from another fabulous holiday in LG and La Pergola was recommended to me by a few members on this msg board as a good venue to enjoy my birthday meal while I was on holiday.  We had a fantastic table, front-line, with spectacular views.  The restaurant, food and service was absolutely spot on - my best birthday meal ever, and my lovely hubbie always likes to take me somewhere special.  La Pergola did not disappoint - it was amazing.

We booked the week before my birthday and had 1-1 discussion with the owner about where we'd like to sit and what time to book for to get the best view of a sunset - bless him, he even moved posh, comfier chairs outside for us.  All the waiters knew it was my birthday when we arrived and made me feel very special - mind you I think they would have made us feel special and welcome whether it was my birthday or not!  I declined the happy birthday sing song from the waiters - but happily accepted a special after dinner drink and a red rose.

Also, we ate out nearly every evening while on holiday in LG this year and we didn't think La Pergola was wildly overpriced at all - marginally higher than average, but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for - it was soooooooo worth a few extra Euros!

Thank you La Pergola and hope to visit again in the future - (also thank you to all who recommeded it to me - good call).

  • Hi Janey - thank you so much for the recommendation, it was a lovely evening and perfect for my birthday. We didn't get a very good sunset that night, but the views were still spectacular.  We didn't get round to trying out the other restaurant on this visit, but I'm working on my hubbie for us to return to LG (again!) in 2011, so it'll be on the list of eateries for that visit.  Will definitely be going back to La Pergola - there were so many lovely dishes on the menu, it was a nightmare trying to choose.  Was jealous of my hubbie's choice of starter (cannelloni) it looked delicious but he ate it all to himself (meanie).

Hi Pool Pirate - La Pergola was busy outside, but no tables were taken inside.  It was a Thursday evening, so maybe not one of their busier nights.  Most the outside tables had been reserved (as mine was) but they did have space for a couple of large groups who called in on spec - but they weren't in such a good position and weren't as nicely laid up on their arrival (ie table cloth, candle and flowers etc), but they soon rectified that for them.

Sorry but being a lover of all things meat I didn't notice the veggie choices, but I'm sure there were some and they would be just as fantastic as the meat and fish choices.  All our courses were beautifully presented and freshly cooked to order - no packet sauces at La Pergola.  Very attentive service, food was lovely and the setting!!! .......well, what can I say apart from it was 'perfect'.

  • Thanks for that response Caroline. Will check the menu out myself this weekend and post on this thread about vegetarian choices. I did check their website without luck.

  • Two vegetarian starters. No vegetarian main courses. Still think the place is very expensive. There are others that beat it hands down.

  • I was there Sat night and had the BEST meal in a long long time, it was perfect and not too pricey, yes Poolpirate where else would you recommend that can beat this place hands down for quality, ambience etc etc. There are many many good places within the area I agree BUT for something special this place will take some beating.

  • You ask 'poolpirate' where he recommends but I can answer having tried Pergola - try Flor del Drago in Playa de La Arena (used to be Vistamar). Excellent meal, beautifully presented and Julio is a wine somnalier who has a fantastic selection of 'different' wines some being organic.  Obvioulsy not the view from Mar Blanco edifice but a truly memorable meal with perfect attention to detail and reasonably priced.

  • I still maintain that La Pergola will take some beating, for me anyway. Beautiful meal, excellent service and such a magnificent view.  My husband and I eat out a lot both at home and on hols and La Pergola is right up there as one of the best we've experienced to date.  Can't wait to go back - just need to convince my hubbie that we simply must return to LG next year for our hols so we can try it again.  ;)
