  • The meal we ate here last night was excellent. Service impeccable, menu even the most discerning would find hard to criticise, wine list good and price reasonable. Recommend this venue and will certainly return very soon.

  • Never had a meal here that wasn't top notch, the wine is excellent and a sensible price and Jason just makes everyone feel special.
Best eating place in L.G. In our opinion.

  • I agree the food is excellent and the menu varies which is good. I also like his special choices of wine which are reasonably priced. Booking in advance is usually necessary. One of the few places we eat in LG.

  • Have not tried it, since it was a bit of a greasy spoon, but on these recommendations will give it a try when we come over.

  • Bernard did asked for an explanation but it doesn't look like he's going to get one

unhappy I think you must be confusing Charlie Bistro with somewhere else.

Charlies Bistro could never in a million years be described as a 'greasy spoon'

Greasy spoon is a colloquial term for a small, cheap restaurant or diner typically specialising in fried foods

Charlies Bistro is a small reasonably priced restaurant which sells an ever changing range of consistently good quality, well cooked meals,

  • In view of the 'greasy spoon' comment, perhaps 'Unhappy? could tell us why it's almost impossible to get iinto  Charlie's Bistro.

  • Why don't you read the post properly, and it was a bit of a greasy spoon when it first opened many years ago.

  • Is this the little restaurant down the walkway by The Bamboo?  If it's where I think it is has it not been different names over the years.

  • I've not seen an online menu and the menu changes so often, it may be difficult to facilitate that. There is indeed a sign on the main road to Charlie's Bistro. As you navigate the one way system in LG, down the hill past Calle Pińo, turning left by the supermarket to come back up past the LG Hotel, the sign is opposite the supermarket pointing along the alleyway where the small, select and superbly serviced Bistro can be found. BUT be sure to book in advance - two weeks ago they were fully booked for New Year's Eve and only had three spare tables for Christmas Eve.

  • Hi. Do not get the rave reviews. Nice guy at front of house and very helpful chef. Food, I thought, was ok. Nothing special. Would not rush back. But then we are all different.

  • Yes, as you say, we are all different. Funnily enough we were at a "tea party" this afternoon and some people there weren't impressed either, but preferred two restaurants we don't rate at all! Just shows how good it is that we all have our own particular likes and dislikes.

  • Another fabulous meal at Charlie's Bistro last night, Salmon and prawn fishcake and lemongrass fishcake starters,  Lamb Farci and Blue Grenadier and Prawn mains,  fresh vegetables a bottle of prosceco, water and coffees just under 60 euros, I don't know anywhere else that you can get food of that quality and variety locally

  • We had a lovely dinner at Charlie's on Tuesday night. The food was first class and the enthusiastic staff are passionate about their cuisine.

We had a warm welcome and were well looked after. The whole experience was excellent.

I would recommend Charlie's without hesitation.

  • Can anyone tell me if Charlie's Bistro is suitable for kids?  I heard a rumour that it was adults only.  We are out in two days with two kids age 8 and 12, and would like to go here due to all the recommendations and remember Jason from the Harbour Lights in the days pre-kids.

  • My children, (now grown up) would have probably liked at least half of what's on the menu and at 8 and 12 wouldn't have wanted chlldrens menus or portions so I would say it depends on what and how much your children eat.  Its not adults only.  They are closed for holidays till 1 September

They eat adult portions!  We come back on 2nd September, so probably won't get chance anyway if they're closed.

Any other restaurants currently closed for holidays?  The last two times we have visited have been during the Whit half term end of May/start of June, and more than half the restaurants in LG were closed for holidays.  We are hoping coming in August a lot more will be open?

  • we have found that quite a number of restaurants close May/June, It's low season, restaurants are all generally busier October - April.  If you want a table at Charlie's Bistro on 1 September you could try contacting them via Facebook
