  • Hi all, just got back from Los G this morning had a fantastic time again.
We spent some time at Bar Sangria this time, only ever visited it once before in over 25yrs of holidaying in Los G.
Rafael the owners son in law was absolutely fantastic really welcoming, and if you like a stunning gin and tonic get one of the specials.
They are a work of beauty and he has a better selection than the savoy!
Stunning presentation, juniper berries curl of lime, vanilla pods liquorice all in different gins.
Pick your gin and enjoy, and the beer is good too in frozen glasses.
Cant wait to get back. :P

If you come out of the Hotel LG, turn left  the Sangria Bar is on the left hand side about 50 yrds - just before the Green Corner and opposite the Supermacardo

  • When we first visited LG, the owner of Bar Sangria used to have a bar next to verdis, his gin and tonics were the best in the village then, glad to hear the skill are being kept in the family

  • We have always used this bar, but to us it is known as the people watching bar, it is great to just sit and watch the world go by, and most of them are unaware you are there.
Over the years we have heard comments and seen things that could form the basis for a really good book!!
I well remember the time an elderly gentleman took the best part of ten minutes to try and park his car outside Rosamun boutique, and in the end the guy selling timeshare could bear it no more and took over, to a huge round of aplause, but not before half the village had ground to a halt.
Oh the small things we find entertaining on holiday!!!!

  • Correct me if I am wrong, I know Sangria bar, I am sure it used to be Pepis bar years ago, I thought the guy running it is Pepis son, bit like the shack down at Puerto Santiago, that used to be owned by Pepino, a midget, last time we were there it had closed up. someone told me he had been killed in a road accident, anyone confirm?

  • After reading the reviews we went to the Bar Sangria and will be in no hurry to return. Nice place to people watch but the one needing watching is the woman who was running the bar on both visits. The 1st time we were fine but a young couple came and sat at the next table. The woman came out and they asked for the food menu and the only word replied was 'no' as she turned and went back in. The couple were taken aback and just left, there were 2 people eating at the time, circa 5.30-6ish. The 2nd visit we sat and waited over 5 minutes for service, i could see same woman talking at bar to 3 locals, maybe family. I went in waited until i caught her eye and asked for our beers, i was aware of stares and comments from those assembled. When my large beer came out lucky if it was 2/3rds beer the rest foam, she was taking the u know what. I can live without her in my life.

  • Pepe's bar is a super place to watch the world go by. Also the man himself is most pleasant and obliging.
He would be very upset to read some of your comments on this string. Simple answer if you don't like it go somewhere else and pay more.

  • If you read my review properly then you will see that I was commenting on the service from one individual who was not Pepe. I thought the whole idea of reviewing a place is to comment on both the positives and the negatives. I told it as it happened so no apologies if you don't think the truth should be told. And yes we did spend our money elsewhere as I am sure did the other couple.

  • We used this bar several times when we were there and were always served in the daytime by a lovely young lady who was both friendly and welcoming. Think her hubby runs the bar in the evenings and he is very pleasant too.

The only other person who worked there on our visits is a lady who helps out, she also works at the hairdressers next to the Los Gigantes hotel, but she was always very pleasant too.

Yes, I can answer my own question now, it is indeed still Pepe and his wife who own the bar (spoke to him this week) he is looking rather frail from when I last remember him. no problems with the service from me or anyone else there on our visits.

By the way, are your caps lock stuck, or do you shout a lot?

  • Have to agree with Desmondo. Myself and a friend went in last Tuesday afternoon for a beer after a long walk. there were two tables occupied with couples, and a table with a single girl . We sat down and waited , but no one came to serve us. When I went in to see if there was a waiter around, the girl got up and followed me in and asked what we wanted. Did she think we were there for the view ?. The sign clearly states BAR Sangria.
    Won,t be back.
