The topic was started under Bars down the Marina. Restaurants closing, high rents charged by landlords etc but my biggest grievence about the whole Island, in general, is the amount of illegal work going on, another cause for businesses closing down.
Most of us are to blame as we want want a job doing for as low a price as possible. The poor legal businessman who pays rent, social security, accountant and all the other extras that go with the package of being legal doesn't have a chance against all those working 'from the back of a van'.
It's about time authorities did something about illegal workers then legal businesses would stand a chance, and I also hope that all those empty business premises stay empty until landlords see sense.
