Haa, us brits are so fickle!
Be nice if some one could walk around the village and let us know what venues are opening and returning tomorrow or during the week!
But with no tourists, I guess they may think twice!

There are several bars and restaurants preparing to open.  Will have a walk round later and let you know which ones.

As the majority of workers on the ERTE scheme have had no money since lockdown started there won't be many customers for those who do open.

I have wondered about some of the Brits working in the bars and restaurants. I imagine some are properly employed and in the system, and guess those should get some sort of emergency money. But there are a lot on the fringes, who maybe didn't return home to UK from their holidays some time ago, and just live hand to mouth so to speak! I guess they will be asking for help back home from their family. Or they will not be keeping up with their rent, something will have to give!

He can be found around the village at night (and day) drinking his brandy and smoking a panatela.
His daughter is so nice, in always, really makes me smile. You should see how many packets of paracetamol I have in the drawer. Never mind the Viagra, she doesn't seem to be taking the hint as yet.
Hope her dad is doing well!

Very few places open.

The 4 beauty/hairdressers in Los Gigantes are all open.

Restaurant Jardin del Sol (next to Santander) will open from today, evenings only from 6pm

Bar/Italian restaurant Roso Pomod'oro (next to pharmacy) is open  and Karl & Val have opened offshore on the marina.

There are very few people about and the majority on the ERTE scheme have still not received anything in 2 months now.  Those who can are having to relying on family to help them out.

I had a walk around Puerto Santiago (Barcelo Santiago area) this morning, there is absolutely nothing open, the small Super Dino supermarket next to the hotel closed down when the lockdown was announced.

Letís hope people start getting some income soon. It must be a terrible situation to be in. We usually eat at Jardin del Sol 3 or 4 times a week when we are there. It sounds quiet surreal from your observations, Dolly.

Problem is with two weeks quarantine each end I can't see anybody coming from the UK. Since we can now only stay 90 days I wouldn't come to lose 28 of them even though I own a property.

Unless governments get a grip on reality I don't think I will see it again.

susieq22,
I can answer your question re La Pergola.
They had a trial re-opening on Monday evening and decided they will now stay closed during this uncertain period until more light is shed on air travel.
When they do decide to open everybody will be informed.

A few years back when we arrived late and most places were booked up we had a lady saying come in come in with a menu

How I hate that but we gave it a go

Thank god we did it is excellent and very good value

Happy days

Yes, sizzling lamb chops and chicken curry. Unpretentious and reasonable, and are always pleased to see you! Since the virus outbreak has been identified as having its origin in China, my wife has stopped eating Chinese. As the very nice owner is Chinese, got a feeling that unfairly, we will have to give it a miss for a while! I imagine that The Pergola being a bit more upmarket, with there garden grown herbs and salads!!!
They rely on holiday makers with stuffed wallets somewhat more than the locals, who probably dine out a lot less, as they are not on holiday so to speak.

Yes, Li is Chinese, we thought the same, but then i remembered my huge Southerns served by Pasquale,so we went there! have to say the Chinese at Buen Gusto are also very friendly (next to Tipsy) we even shook hands :o we felt a bit sorry for them, they have started to build up trade, then along came the lockdown, i cannot see any Brits going to  Tenerife until after Christmas, but if we can get there for our usual Feb/March we will do.

Yes we love having Chateaubriand at La Bodeguita. The lady that welcomes you in from the road is Yolander.

We last bumped into Li in Lidl just before the lockdown, we were planning to go a few days later but couldn't.

I expect the locals are frequenting places like Casa Edu, Don Jose's Tapas Bar and La Baricca away from the front, with better prices.

Unless Wendy is some sort of local superstar celebrity, I find it odd that the poor people of Oldham would have any interest at all in the exploits of a middle aged women with two dogs holed up in a village in the Canaries!

Well it is mildly interesting to see what life is like in Tenerife during lockdown and what is open. I saw it because I have a Google alert set up for Tenerife, not because I read the Oldham Chronicle, but I expect there are a few people from Oldham that holiday in Tenerife.

A friend of ours that stayed with us in Feb is from Oldham originally and the lady that runs the chippy in PS is from Oldham.

It also made me realise getting a hair cut will be a problem when it is allowed in the UK because if people get their hair cut say every six to eight weeks they will all be overdue now, so the barbers will have about six weeks of customers wanting to come all at once. My barber is always reasonably busy in normal times, so it is going to take weeks to get through the backlog.

I tried to turn my razor into a number 5 clipper with a 3D printed part but it did not work. The beard trimmer will only cut close to the scalp because the blades are too fine.
