Monthly update of major work in Los Gigantes

1st October 2018 work commenced on the refurbish of Los Gigantes

This topic will be updated every month with the progression of the work

The work is now into the second month and at peak times the traffic lights on the marina road are causing traffic jams which often tail back to Calle El Pino.  It is advisable not to bring your car to the marina unless it is absolutely necessary, its best to park elsewhere and walk.

Now into 4th month

The new pipes are now in but by the looks of it there is still a lot of work to be done before this section of road is open again.  The traffic light system to enter the marina is still in operation.  This works well but can still be frustrating for drivers at peak times.

Now into 5th month

There is a big visible difference this month.  The barriers have moved another 50 metres up the road.  Tamara restaurant is not accessible so has closed for 1 month.  The road over the new pipe has a temporary surface but is not open to traffic yet.  The new pedestrian way has been started and will be level with the road.

Now into 6th month

Progression has been very good this month.  The new footpath down to the marina is open. New palm trees have been planted with lighting in the footpath.  This looks really nice at night.  They have now started work on the opposite side.  Also all the barriers have moved again the work on the new pipes is now commencing outside Paraiso del Sol.  Tamara restaurant is still closed but they have made access now so it may open again very soon.

Now into 8th month

Tamara restaurant is open again.

Picture 1  -  Work is still progressing on the road and new pavements from Tamara restaurant to the marina.  Traffic lights are still in operation.

Pictures 2 & 3  The digging up of the road to place the  new pipe has now extended as far as Edificio Florencia

Tourist Information office is being moved from its location beside Tamara to the Los Gigantes plaza.  I'm not sure at this time if it is a temporary or permanent location.

Now into 9th month

No more traffic lights.  The road from Tamara to the marina is now fully open to 2 way traffic.

Pic 1  The work on the new pipeline is now crossing the Adelpha junction.
Pic 2  The work on the new pavement is now as far as Edificio Florencia

Now into 11th month  and stretches from Tamara/Oasis junction almost to the Harbour Club

Now into 12th month  and stretches from Tamara/Oasis junction almost to the Harbour Club

Pic 1.  Work still continuing on the new traffic island at the Tamara/Oasis junction, they have now started
          laying the new pavement on the other side of the street.

Now into 15th month  and stretches from Los Gigantes Supermarket (Harrods) junction almost to the Harbour Club

Pic 1.  Work finished on the new traffic island at the Tamara/Oasis junction. New top surface is complete
          with new road markings.

Pic 2. There is still major work going on at the junction by Los Gigantes supermarket (Harrods)

Pic 3. New footpath is almost as far as the Chinese restaurant and still ongoing work at the entrance to
         Calle el Pino
