We are now on the countdown to going home after spending two weeks here, we always enjoy it, been coming here for 30 years, observations, noise not a problem where we are, calle adelfa, flies are more of a problem than we can ever remember, the prices have remained pretty good, large shorts far cheaper than the uk, food similar, we would say that it is quieter in the evening this year, bars restaurants half empty, you have to eat out early, best place for food and price plus great service, La bodiguita,  the bar on the road to puerto santiago, on the right, near the bad bend, has gone downhill, new owners, touting and driving away customers as soon as they look at the menu, the guy must be crazy, someone needs to tell him! had some great afternoon drinkd at La Sangria and the italian bar to the back of the harbour, great friendly no hassle service, Best bar service by far, as always, Domingo's in the evening (he needs to change his acts now) Tipsy terrace, not bad food, a bit overpriced, still full of 3 bob millionaires, arseholes unfortunately. just of course my opinions, off to Greece in May, much cheaper to wine and dine.

This is very interesting. I too love la boduegita but am looking forward to trying the Italian in the marina. Glad noise and roadworks not a problem. I agree that hassling proprietors put people off.

Let me try to explain about the Italian Bar/Restaurant down by the marina , first one is down by the street at the back of the marina, you pass a Tapas bar, they are next, they have little stools and cushions on the wall oposite, we did not have food here, but a couple of glasses of wine (they give you a bucket of crisps ) very friendly, no hassle. the second Italian bar/restaurant is on the front of the harbour, right at the far end, it replaced rincon de whatever, it is very good food, anything from tapas to full meals, to suit your pocket or taste.

 Also heading home this week and similar observations, although can only claim 20 yrs of visits. Noise, building work etc  not a problem. Also thought the flies were much worse this year. If you like Italian, Mamma Lucia's is good but it's best to book as it's very popular. After all the warnings about pickpockets, kept an eye out but didn't see any at
 Can't comment on Tipsy Terrace as tried to have lunch there today and was told it's fully booked. Maybe I don't fit the 30 Bob millionaire requirement.
Ate at Charlie's Bistro once. Despite the rave reviews it was only average and you feel as though your gatecrashing some locals dining club.
All in all still a great holiday and already booked for next year. Can't wait.

I also see that the Green corner is operating, with live music, actually some have been quite good, but we tend to listen from Louis bar, or Sangria bar, it does not seem as rowdy as the Green corner in the past did, but as its prices for drinks are far more expensive than all of the other bars, it comes as no surprise, 3.50 for a glass of wine compared to 2.80 ish at other places.  we have not noticed any sign of pickpockets, although crowd gatherings such as Alcala market and the square, when the carnival is on are places to be aware of for lowlife brushing against your clothing and bags.

Unhappy, that seems a strange reply, my understanding is the forum is used to pass on different opinions and personal opinions, in a light hearted manner, that may help others. We did indeed have evening meals in Puerto santiago, we got the taxi up the hill and walked back down it, we ate twice at the side street near Vigillia park, right at the end is a typical Canarian bar, not many tourists visit it, we speak a little Spanish so it held no fear for us, we have only eaten as far as Casa Pedro's on the bad bend, never in PA.
As you used to own property until your spat with the authorities, perhaps you could give advice on where you would recommend tourists eat and why, i, as well as others would be willing to glean from your experience.

If you think losing 18000.00€ for being fined for something you have not done is a spat, you should see me when I am really angry.

As for good restaurants outside LG in my opinion take it or leave it are Pergola, Flor del Drago, Martini, cheap but good real Italian food Doma Mia.

To old to play tennis so don't eat a TT & I am not a 30 bob millionaire.

Just back after four months, Sombrero area. Noise no real problem, flies worse than we can remember, weather as good as ever, if not better! Restaurants, agree with Davymar and Pete on TT, Charlie’s. Favourite this year Flor del Drago followed closely by Casa Edu. Domingo’s, PA still as good as ever, Bods for no frills and good value. Disappointed with Jardin Del Sol, Ibericos OK, Harbour Club not mentioned much but good food at fair prices not keen on their entertainment. Tried Uwe and Renata’s for first time at end of break should have gone earlier would have returned and the new fish restaurant in San Juan is worth a try as well. If you can ignore the road works pretty much everywhere you’ll have a great time. Oh forgot Tapas y Tapas for great lunch in the sun!

My choices are not in any order ibericos bodeguitas harbour club tipsy terrace. The Indian in Los gigabytes. For drinks 60s bar Luis bar sangria .mama Lucia's for lunch. Tapas y tapas food del drago Domingo's and casa Pepe's. The fish restaurant in San Juan lovely...

Linda, sorry if my writing mislead you! the bar i was referring to that was touty, follow the road from Vigillia park down towards the bad bend where Casa Pedros is situated, just before the bend, opposite the museum with the fish sticking out of the wall is a bar, it used to be called Freds bar years ago, i believe it has changed hands a few times, but now gone downhill imho.
Unhappy, thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated, have eaten at Pergola in the distant past.
By the way, the restaurant on the way down from Colonial park down to the Fisherwoman roundabout, has been refurbished and is due to open tomorrow night, cannot remember its name, sorry.
