I must say I'm pretty fed up with the nastiness on this site so this will be my last post. I shall be back in LG though when restrictions are lifted despite Lucy W not wanting me there - see her post on another thread. Keep posting Georgie - nothing wrong with wanting to know what's going on in a place you love. Bye all.

Now Georgie besides asking repetitive questions, you are now telling porkies, I refer to many of your previous posts, you don't wear a mask, that is why you purchased a visor.

Bye Bye SandyLea, I am sure all the business in Tenerife are glad you cancelled your holiday, perhaps along with Georgie & nophead you should get used to wearing a mask, because the way things are going, it might be law everywhere soon. If you stick your head above the parapet, expect to get it shot off, I have many times, it's called life.

I would be surprised if we ever have to wear one outside in the UK because it makes no sense. That isn't where people are catching it. What happens if it is raining?

In the UK they seem to be concentrating of stopping people socialising. I should be driving up to Northumberland to see my sister this evening, arranged a week ago but cancelled by the government yesterday as they can't socialse outside household groups up there now. Funny because they have a lower rate than we do here at the moment and we can still socialise in sixes but we couldn't when we had a much lower rate a month ago.

Does any of this make sense?

Yes but what is idiotic is twice I have been prevented from socialising when rates were very low in the area that was restricted and twice I have had more freedom when rates were much higher. We couldn't host events in the summer when our rate was about 7 but can now when it is 45.9, while my sister can't  socialise in an area with a rate of 22. So it is the people in charge that are idiots.

You are really something nophead, all those people that have died and stopped your social life how inconsiderate of them.

May I suggest instead of wasting your time posting on here to us you post to Boris and see if he can help you I am sure he has nothing better to do than listen to a raving lunatic.

Los Gigantes roads and pavements are completely finished and looking really nice.  Walkway around Barcello Santiago still not finished.

The new path from the crab island mirrador looks to be open as there are people walking on it but we haven't tried it yet.

What a concrete eyesore, Our friends owned the first apartment with the balcony & let us stay there for 6 weeks after we sold our property.

The owners of the first block will be lucky to sell any of them, especially when the gratifi morons find it.

What a total waste of money when there was a natural path already there, just needed a safety fence cliff side.

Its a pity the Council could not have spent the money on the pavements & a dog warden, to stop the sh1t all over them.

Yes it is a very brutalist architecture but of course it is very wheelchair friendly but a long diversion for pedestrians. Not sure why they built the stairs to bypass the short ramp at the top because it isn't any shorter, so even pedestrians would probably chose the ramp.

It matches the aesthetics of the the previous section from Crab Island to the mirrador. A few years ago we spoke to the owners of the end apartment and they were not happy it was built in front of their apartment and now they have concrete for a view and not much sun and people walking past them all the time. Feel very sorry for them.

Also the Crab Island section would be impossible for wheelchairs, so not very joined up planning.

In Los Cristianos, Las Americas and Costa Adeje the promenade is flat all the way along and so it is a Mecca for disabled people who hire mobility scooters to drive up and down. We once stayed in the Arona Gran in LC because it was adults only but we were about 2 generations younger than the most of the clientele and the foyer was full of mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Perhaps Puerto de Santiago and Los Gigantes wanted to get in on the mobility action but I don't think any of those people will dare to travel now. You need to be reasonably fit to get around LG which is one reason we like it. The older people we meet are all reasonably fit and younger than their age.

LG streets seem pretty clean compared to most Spanish places. Try walking up the Camino Royal to Tamaimo for dodging sh1t.

We walked down it today. It is blocked off past the steps over the back of the  Barcelo, so you can't go around the front yet but a short section has opened past Capuccino Maria along the front of the Barcelo, so just the corner at  Mirador Tancón really that is still closed.

Quite nice benches and viewpoints.

The triangular balustrades are handy for distancing when people pass.

Instead of being able to walk around the corner of the Barcelo at the moment you have to climb up these stairs, down the other side past the front of the hotel and then down the steps past Cappuccino Maria to get past the last bit that isn't completed yet.

No idea why, but they are widening the coastal path from Varadero to Alcala at a cost of EUR580,000. They are also building a platform at Punta Blanca.

Shame it still stops short of Alcala. Would have been a lot better to make it longer rather than wider.

Thanks for the info nophead very interesting perhaps they are not what you think they are, but sunburnt MR Whippies.

As for the concrete eyesore how do the disabled get down to the viewing platform & the triangular bits dont look big enough to take a wheelchair thus blocking the new path.

Stairs only to the little platform.

People in wheelchairs would need to peer through glass balustrades before they get vandalised. I think they are just about big enough to take a wheelchair and leave 1.5m for people to get past. Obviously designed long before covid arrived.

It overlooks the Crab Island pool and the sea was a bit choppy when were there. I said to my wife "somebody could get swept out of that pool". Guess what, they did! We heard an ambulance later that day and found out somebody was rescued from the sea and taken to hospital. The tides seem very high at the moment.

I think the Mr Whippies are aimed at dog walkers but their signs are in Spanish so not sure what they say.

Crab Island pool has had many people swept out from it & it is not just tourists not knowing the danger, a local doctor lost her son when he was pulled over the edge & drowned.

As for the dog signs I don't think it will make any difference to the Spanish, I have never seen one with a bag or poop scoop in all the years we have been coming anywhere in Spain.

Google translated the sign for me

El chulo
Yo soy tu caca
Si la cagas la pagas

The pimp
I'm your poop
If you f.ck up you pay it

So no doubt there but 301EUR is an odd amount.

Here is a more cryptic one, which Google translates as:

The shy
Just say I'm a little request
Cockatoo
Hehe

No idea but somebody / something seems to have crapped on his hand!

Here is a photo from the new pathway to Puerto Santiago.  They have done a really good job.  Hopefully the last bit round the hotel will be opened soon so the the stairs can be avoided.
