Coastal walk to Alcala and San Juan
« on: December 04, 2018 »
Nice morning so did an early walk to Alcala for coffee and then San Juan for shopping. Took my gps walking app and can confirm that from the taxi rank at Playa la Arena beach to the bus stop at Alcala is exactly 3 miles. It is a further 2.4 miles to the new plaza at San Juan. All along the coast was a fantastic walk cool and the surfers were out early too. Well worth getting up to do if you can.

Remember all LG bound buses run through San Juan anticlockwise whilst road works in progress.

ENJOY

Do you have to come back to the main road after Alcala then back down through Fonsalia AWOL or is there a way through, only ever done SAN Juan to Fonsalia then didnít think we could get any further.
Interested to know as we love walking.

Hi Mary,

No there is a rough track that takes you on a coastal path around the plantation. Done it many a time in my sandles so only dusty feet if you are happy to do if not good trainers are fine. It joins the new walk at the desalination building at Fonsalia into San Jaun.

Just follow the coast from Alcala beach by the bars up the hill on the right and keep right at the top. You will come to a dead end road. Just keep going.

We love Playa San Juan and sadly missed out on buying a place about 15 years ago before it became the tourist spot it now is.

It is a lovely place and we are looking forward to partaking in a beer on there when we come out in a few days time.

Hope you are having a lovely time

when the Puerto Isora project finally gets under way the whole area between Alcala and San Juan will become a major tourist area. The access road from the motorway to Fonsalia is already in place.

Hi

Is that going to be where the cruise ships are going to come in?

The beach and harbour are excellent but internally it is very spainish and concrete which was not very attractive

So,

What did you think of the walk then Georgie?

It was you who brought it up as a topic a while ago. Would be nice to know my time taken to give advice has not been wasted.
