quite a foodie place nowadays.  mirador de garachico is good but you will have to check if it is open at lunchtimes.

and before you ask georgie, i do not know the menu offhand nor if they have a plat de jour.

Methinks it's time to go back to bed 'davymar' ...... it's really not necessary, and not funny.

Here come Georgie's "sheep" to defend him once again. Just review his posts and you will understand why members of this board react as they do.

Its Frogeddy that needs one.

We alternate december and March between los gigantes and playa blanca in lanzarote

For the last 4 years we have booked into the hotel volcan by the marina rubicon and either booked direct or through travel Republic

It is truly a relaxing hotel and very Canadian

It is a perfect spot and the walks are fantastic and very level

Thanks for that Georgie.
As i told you we stayed in Puerto Del Carmen near the harbour, we visited Rubicon and quite liked the area, we are going to go back, but we try to book a pad that is private and has a view, a bit home from home, so we can chill for a day then drive out and visit other places, we book independant and do our own thing, don't bother with tour companies. its a taxi or a car for us.

Even though Stansted is closer, we use Gatwick as flights and airport parking are so much cheaper, often saving in the hundreds for two week holidays. Suffolk is lovely but so are many villages in Essex, Georgie.

Hi Lesleygee

will you report back when you've been, we drove over the mountains to La Oratava last month and found a lovely place to eat in the older cobbled area, we did plan on going back next month to explore some more and go back to the same restaurant (whose name I will make a note of next time). With the new road its not a bad journey  so Garachico (which we last went to over 30 years ago) could be another trip we could do especially if you find a good place to eat

I will do CS, we are going tomorrow or Wednesday. We have our bono card so are looking forward to the journey on the bus. Went to Sauco in Alcala on Friday, it was lovely as usual.

Sounds nice. Is it like suckling pig.

It is the cafe GIRASOL I think, but the pork is nothing like suckling pig. The owner cooks pork joints then you get loads of carved pork, a lovely salad and chips if required. All for a reasonable price, but canít remember how much. You need to book as it is very popular with hikers as well as tourists.

The owners name is Angel and he roasts a leg of Pork on each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. As Angie says it is really scrummy. The sliced pork is delicious and the crackling is divine but watch those fillings. Try and get there just before 1pm. Price is very reasonable for the benefit of Georgie.

Sulking Pig? Oh yes, many places do it,not forgetting cheeky chicken, vicious veal and bored beef. All can be found locally if you know where to look!
