Wifi access

  • I know that Canaries Wireless  advertise a very reasonably priced service, but does anyone in LG have any experience of using it? Aside from that, are there any "public" wifi places/hotspots where a handheld PC could connect?

  • Hello RoyL,
I have used Canaries Wireless for two years.
Although not as fast as ADSL it is considerably faster than dial up.
It is much more reliable now than it was two years ago, and ideal for anybody only requiring short monthly contracts.

Sorry I can't help you with the wifi hotspots, but I  think the new hotels  would have it in reception areas.
I would suggest you contact DD for more info.

  • i have seen people using their laptops in barcelo santiago reception - i got the feeling they were hooking into barcelo's wireless range.  i've used canaries wireless on our balcony without any problems, after i have paid to sign in of course.

  • We are constantly expanding and improving Canaries wireless, and our office is open 10am - 5pm Mon - Fri 922 862713 to answer any queries and to assist with problems logging on. Our technicians are available for house calls to conduct surveys for those who want a more permanent connection.

We do have wireless amplifiers  for sale, or for hire, to boost the signal.

  • Thanks for your replies, might take the pocket pc "just in case". I will be out and about in LG tomorrow and for the next 3 weeks. Be sure and say hello if you spot me! (Black baseball cap, local bar logo)  ;D

  • Ok, just for info. I get a good signal from canaries wireless. El Marques where I am is supposed to have wifi downstairs from reception (free) but I cant find any signal. I did ask at reception and the guy came down to check the wireless router, said it was all plugged in and working but I dont believe him, I just think he doesnt know anything about it!
Anyways, I am in a local internet cafe staying out of the heat of the day.
