Where do you live?

  • Actually this post is basically aimed at GiGi but it would be interesting to hear what other forum members and/or guests think.

Many times, when tempted to respond to questions asking for help, I wonder where the person asking the question lives.  Not the address of course, but, are they holiday makers that visit once, twice (or more times) per year, are they "swallows" who spend the winter here, or are they, like me , residents of Tenerife and in particular the local area.  There is a facility for registered members to state their location, but most leave it blank, I always wonder why.

    Comments please .....................

  • Nothing to hide here - the clue is in the handle - we are (vegetarian) visitors (!)  - we get out to LG as often as we can - and although I can't imagine it is of any interest - we live in South Croydon. We'll be back in the New Year - trust the Folk Club will still be going strong in the Bamboo Bar, Mr Bear?

  • I'M A VISITOR (OF MANY MANY YEARS - SINCE 1976)  HOPING TO BECOME RESIDENT IN THE THE NEXT 18 MONTH - CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO LOTS OF 'THINGS' TO SORT OUT. IT'S ALL VERY EXCITING BUT DAUNTING AT THE SAME TIME - NEARER THE TIME I WILL BE ASKING LOTS OF QUESTIONS AND SEEKING ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE 'PLUNGE'

  • I live in Fife in Scotland, just across the Forth Bridge from Edinburgh. We have been coming to Los Gigantes every summer since 1999 and for the last 4 years have been coming out at New Year too. Its a great time of year to get away to the sun and like nothing else Unfortunately even the Scottish New years have changed. Much prefer Los Gigantes. See you on 28th Dec!

  • Like Scotslass, I am also from Scotland, just a bit further North, in Dundee.   We have been every year since 2000 and love the area.   We usually come out in June but found it terribly quiet this year so we will be rethinking what time we come out next year.   I agree with you Scotslass that the New Years in Scotland are not nearly so good - we would come out then ourselves but my husband is a butcher and the festive season is his busiest time of the year.   Now should we win the lottery ...................!! :)

  • The name canarybird was supposed to indicate that I am female and live here! Could be a bit confusing when we talk about the returning swallows!! But just to add to the forum then I am a resident and have been here for twelve years.

  • Hi I live in cold & sunny North Wales but bought an apartment in the village two years ago and visit about five times a year for about two weeks at a time. We would like to stay for at least three months in the winter but as the old saying goes a dog is for life not just for christmas and we have two.

  • we live in northern uk where it is very sunny but very cold at the moment, we visit los gigs about every couple of months and have done for many years! we love coming over, it feels like 'home'!   it would be nice to eventually spend more time in gigantes but work etc is here in uk so not possible at the moment!!    just hope the flight prices dont go through the roof when they introduce these new green taxes!!! that would clip our wings! :(

  • Deepest rural Hampshire but, like janey, we get out when we can but are presently tied to school holidays which presently clips our wings significantly.
Flights that are obtainable for 900 airmiles or 'a355 each way with Monarch suddenly shoot up to 'a3250 per head during school hols. Eek !
Not too many more years though.

Watching the thunderstorm from our balcony for three and half hours was very sad but extremely relaxing !!

    Hope to return soon.
