  • The weather for a small area like Los gigantes is very difficult to predict.  Tenerife is a tiny spec on charts and Los Gigantes is a tiny spec on a map of Tenerife.  Rain was forecast for Friday night therefore events in the square were cancelled.  On the night there was heavy rain in Puerto Santiago and non in Los Gigantes.  The event could have gone ahead.  The organisers and the entertainers are not prepared to risk damage to all the electrical kit in the event of a heavy shower.

My other half is cursing at the moment.  The band "Phoenix" he plays in are due to play in the square tonight.  They have spent the last three hours collecting kit modifying their lighting system etc and now large black clouds are looming............... they will make the decision around 5pm

As far back as I can remember, and I've been here 21 years now, we have never lost so much business to bad weather in a month.  Everyone hopes the weather will improve for the busier Xmas holiday time, but now to rub salt in the wound it is looking like no one will get here because airports are closed because of snow!

I find www.eltiempo.es (then type in Puerto de Santiago in the search box) is fairly accurate for the immediate day and possibly the next day but don't take too much notice of predictions after that.

......ooops better go and batton down the hatches its started to rain (at least it's warm rain)!

  • We have just returned from a few days in the North (Santa Cruz) The weather has been warm and sunny. A bit windy but nothing like we have been having here.

I should start another post but haven't got the time to say just how cheap, compared to here, the prices especially for drinks are in Santa Cruz. Restaurants are also cheaper. We feel that there is nothing we can do but we do feel that we are being taken advantage of. Robbed would be too strong a word but I think you know whre I am coming from.
