  • Thank you NikkiGQ.  Sorry to hear about your accident and I hope you recover quickly.  How is the boy doing?

It is our aim to bring our viewers the local news asap and I think our web master DaRKeTaMiN has done a great job designing the new look.  He's also spent a fair bit of time teaching me how to look after it. He's had a good laugh and teased me about all my notes! All our viewers can take part too by Emailing me stories and pics and I will add them to the blog (credits will be given).

DaRKeTaMiN and I are now working on the next little project - Video.  Watch this space.

  • Any chance of changing the view? The apartments with a bit of cliff are pretty boring.

  • We are very pleased with the new location for the web cam.  We are aware it needs a clean - that is quite a task, it's on the job list for next week.

  • What?s the difference between a photograph and a webcam image?

Well, a photograph is usually of much better quality in terms of  sharpness and colour, but a webcam image is thought to be more interesting  because as it refreshes  it shows movement and signs of life.

Unfortunately, the current view on the webcam has none of the advantages of  a live webcam. It shows no discernable change so, apart from being a weather indicator, I personally don?t really see its attraction.

I can understand the location limitations but please can we have a view which shows signs of human activity and that Los Gigantes is  alive and kicking?

  • We can't keep everyone happy all of the time.  The majority of people we talk to want a cliff and sea view, not people walking in the streets.

  • The web cam has been cleaned and adjusted.

There has been thick cloud today so can't help with the sunshine request - at least it is warm.

  • The rain, wind and salt spray does it no good.  I've had a word with our steeple jack about cleaning it again - sorry can't print his reply.  The view is changed every day or two.  It gets rather interesting when the waves come over the marina wall. Keep watching.

  • Please do not get me wrong. The webcam is much appreciated, even when we are here it saves me having to look out of the window!

I am sure that it is not an inexpensive resource and that its presence should be noted by the Ayuntamiento Santiago del Teide.

I have my doubts but one can hope.
