  • At last, Iquote ve been given the OK to announce that the new web cam is live. Itquote s certainly given us a few headaches!!

You will find that the picture changes aprox every 8 seconds.  The camera has the facility to pan, tilt and zoom so the view will change regularly.

Your computer may ask you to download lquote Active Xquote  to receive the picture.  It is safe to do so.  Dare I say it'85'85. please let me know if you have any problems. Adjustments may be needed to the camera and program over the next few days.

So when youquote re miserable, stuck in the freezing cold rain  in the UK you can cheer up by clicking on to http://www.losgigantes.com/webcam/webcam.html or click the box on home page.

  • LaCochinillo if you want a better picture right click the webcam image and select (Image Size 50%). The webcam automaticly dobles the size of the image to fit in the webpage, by selecting (Image Size 50%) it sets it back to original size.

For those of you wanting the cam panned left, right or zoomed in etc.. we will program the camera to show various views throughout the day.

  • Yes it will work with windows vista, we have tested it already, as long as you install the active x control http://www.pysoft.com/Downloads/WebCamPlayerOCXSetup.exe it should work fine. The security alert you are getting is probably the active x control trying to download for install.

  • Ok i have found that some times your internet explorer can block the "installed activex control". If you have installed the activex control and it still won't work please try the following:

    1. With internet explorer open go to TOOLS , INTERNET OPTIONS select the SECURITY tab then highlight INTERNET and click DEFAULT LEVEL

    2. Then go to PRIVACY tab and click DEFAULT

    3. Then go to ADVANCED tab and click RESTORE DEFAULTS then click apply then ok.

By doing this your internet explorer should reset back to the original settings now try the webcam page again it should now work.  8)

  • Ok for those of you using the new WINDOWS VISTA we have found a problem with displaying the webcam image in internet explorer. Its seems that it is being blocked by the security setup built into windows vista even when you corectly install the active x control it just comes up with the following:

    ERROR!!
On this page should be an ActiveX control to watch cameras, but "Internet Security" settings on this computer do not allow using ActiveX controls.

Please click here to Download a program to install ActiveX

    To allow using ActiveX control:
In the Microsoft Internet Explorer click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".
Click the "Security" tab and click the "Custom Level" button.
    Enable "Download signed ActiveX controls".
Enable "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins".
Enable "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting".
    Enable "Active scripting".
    Click the "Ok" button.
In the Internet browser, please click "Refresh" from the "View" menu to make this ActiveX work

We are working on a soluction and it will be posted here as soon as possible!
    Sorry for any inconvenience.

The magic of Los G is as much the night with all the lights (apart from the lack of them on Gigansol del Sol) as much as the day.

  •  ;D  thank you soooo much for the webcam and this message board.  I'm coming out on 1st January for a week and am really looking forward to it (even though the weather forecast isnt looking too good!!)

So thanks to all on here - have been checking out the Borris and Dorris section for places to eat - looks like I may need longer than a week to fit it all in!!  Will therefore have to book another holiday as soon as I get back to work through the list  ;D

Happy New Year to you all, I'll be one half of the very pale pair walking aimlessly around Los Gigantes from the evening of 1st January!!!

    H xx

  • As a Windows Vista user, I have never been able to install the software and view the Web Cam.
Many security settings have been changed to allow this etc., without success.

Someone posted that they had managed to do this with Vista.

With the impending non-support of Windows XP, many will be forced to change  to Vista for security reasons
and new technoglies due for general release in 2008 (USW for one).

Can anyone who has Vista and has managed to get the Web Cam working, please post how?
