My 10 pence worth.....
I can understand where June is coming from, and I know of Jesse, although never met him personally.
There is a tendancy on the Island for friends to look out for friends, much more so than back in the UK. However, there was an incident a while back which really got my back up. It was on another forum not here, but very similar.
The thread title was along the lines of "Charity Fundraiser", and as time progressed contributors began to ask what charity the event was in aid of. It eventually turned out that it was a benefit night for an entertainer's hip replacement !!
The point here is that there is a world of difference between "Charity" and "Benefit" - exactly the same as in this case. Dingo Dogs is a "charity" which does what it does, and presumably does it well. John Farmer is not a charity and a lot of people wouldn't know him from Adam. He may well have problems and those close to him like Jessie may well want to try to help. That is as applaudable as fund-raising for Dingo Dogs or any other charity, but it is not a charity night.
June's views over time have been "interesting", but she is correct, one moment the event is described as a Charity Night, the next as a Benefit Night - had this been fully clarified in the original post and full details given it would have removed any trace of suspicion at the outset.
In my example earlier, whilst I might feel inclined to support someone who has genuinly fallen on hard times, or feed a few animals for a month, I am "stuffed" if I am going to help pay for, for example, somebody's new hip joint.
Moral of the tale. Explain everything at the outset, tell it like it really is, then hope for the best!!!!!!.
