I wonder if anyone plays online or using other methods whilst here.

They will take your money - but paying out is another matter.

Camelot do not publish a list of Countries that are illegal - how convenient.

Nor does the Government Department who regulate the Lottery.

But then again both profit from keeping people in ignorance.

Orange, that is interesting that you raise this point as the National Lottery website used to have a big notice to that effect on the home page but I just had a look and can't see it now. There is only a reference to it under FAQ. My son lives in Spain so we knew you could only enter online from the UK but I bet a lot of people aren't aware.  I think with the summer hols coming up there should be more publicity because lots of people probably buy a ticket online when they are out of the country on holiday.

if you are only going to be out of the UK on holiday the obvious answer is to do it in advance in the UK before you leave

It is not that obvious if you have an online account.

That the Lottery will take your money even though they know where
you are logging on from.

Only ready to tell you if you actually win a prize.

  • Please note that from 13th December 2010 we will be making some changes to our Terms and Conditions and Rules.

    Summary of upcoming changes:

As well as being a UK or Isle of Man resident, to play National Lottery games online or by text you must be physically located in the UK or Isle of Man when buying a ticket.

If you play by Direct Debit, you must be physically located in the UK or Isle of Man when setting up your Direct Debit Account and also when making amendments to it, including buying additional tickets, or changing your numbers or payment details. As long as you only make these changes while you are physically located in the UK or Isle of Man, your tickets will be valid if you travel overseas.

If you do not meet these requirements, any ticket purchases you make will be invalid and no prizes paid, and we will have the right to reclaim any prizes already paid under these circumstances.

You can view these changes by clicking here. You will also be notified of these changes when you next sign in to your Account and will need to confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by them to continue playing National Lottery games online or by text. If you have already signed in to your Account this week and accepted the changes, there is no further action needed.

Any National Lottery games played up to and including 12th December 2010 will be subject to the current Terms and Conditions and Rules.

    Kind regards

  • It also needs to be made clear - that even if you have set up a Direct Debit. You
must remain a 'resident' of the UK or Isle of Man for the duration of that Direct Debit...
