I am thinking about buying a ?99 digital TV in the UK for my bedroom, before I go to Comet or Argos or Best Buy and buy one can anyone tell me if they've done the same thing and if so can they confirm that it works OK.

Other option is to buy one locally but last time we looked they were about 200 euros, however prices might have dropped so second question, can anyone whose is actually there now tell me what price a 16 inch digital TV is.

We don't have a car in Tenerife so I'd only be buying from somewhere I could walk to

  • Smaller UK TV's will work anywhere in Western Europe, certainly up to 20 inch.  I have an LCD 20 inch Sony in my caravan which works in France and Spain.  You need to make sure it has the necessary set-up menu to enable this to happen.  Unless you want to watch Spanish TV you won't be using the tuner anyway.  However, it would be much simpler to buy one here in Los G.  This should have the latest digital tuner for Spanish digital TV and will have a Spanish guarantee.  Santos in San Juan is probably the nearest supplier.  They will download English instructions for you and deliver.  Also a dealer on the left going through Alcala.

  • because the replies were conflicting I decided to ask in Comet if they knew, the salesman assured me that any TV I bought in Comet would work in Tenerife so I bought one on the condition that I would be back for a refund if he was wrong but he wasn't I confirm that he was correct
