Titsa Bus Routes

  • Hi,

My wife and I will be visiting Los Gigs in January and wondered if any one has used the local bus services to get to Los Gigs from the airport (Reina Sofia). The Bus numbers, frequency and approximate cost would be very helpful.

    Regards

    Johmor.

  • A simple search for Titsa on Google will get you to their website where you will find most if not all the information you require.  The journey will take ages and eat into your valuable  holiday time. Not recommended.

  •  :-\\ The bus from Los Gigantes to Las Americas alone takes about an hour and 40 mins - not recommended. Jump in a taxi! Its only about 'a330 - 48 euros orughly from memory. We booked thorugh El Mar Services the last time which was slightly cheaper although have heard some bad reports, we never had any problems.

  • I have done this a couple of times. You get the bus right outside the airport arrivals door. This takes you to Los Christianos  bus terminus next to the San Marino apartments. You then get a 473 to LG which does take a long time but if you are ot in that much of a hurry you get a good look around to see whats been going on including a trip around Adeje...and around Adeje...until you are dizzy and then a couple of other places like Playa San Juan depending on the bus time.
I cant remember the cost from the airport to LC , but from LC to LG was 9 euros for three of us. Personally I love the buses, great just to jump on one and go somewhere just to see what its like. We had a look at Galletas last time we did this.

  • Thanks for all your replies and I appreciate what you mean by the time saved by using a taxi. However we are arriving at lunchtime, hopefully no delays, and do not mind if it takes most of the afternoon for the journey, we would like to see something of the other coastal towns/villages, and perhaps save a few precious holiday funds into the bargain. The Titsa bus site is clear about the 473 Los Cristianos/Los Gigantes route, but it is not so clear on which route passes through the airport, I am guessing it would be the Santa Cruz bus service.

  • Err...maybe not.  Just check the bus timetable outside the terminal. I believe they have increased the frequency of buses recently but be prepared to wait!
Anyway, as long as you arrive while there is plenty of daylight left its a great el cheapo sightseeing tour!

  • After another look the 487 hourly service from Airport to Las Americas via Los Christianos looks ok. Thanks Roy.

is your wife aware of this extra little excursion you are planning...... and, if so, does she realise it is to take place immediatly you arrive.....

  • Think about this very carefully johmor. According to his autobiography,  Ranulph Fiennes  unsuccessfully attempted this epic journey back  in the 1970quote s but  had to turn back at Alcala with exhaustion and malnutrition, by which time he had eaten three of his dogs.

  • Not to my taste Mrs Kipling. Too many small bones for me. Stick in my throat. Much prefer Labrador steaks.

  • This was a serious discussion...you are really exaggerating how long it takes the bus to get to Los Gigantes. Its all lies about the cannibalism..anyway we only ate one leg.  >:(

  • Great bus service on Tenerife for getting out and about, even better with a Bono ticket. But do you really want the hassle of a long bus journey in the hottest part of the day after a 4 hour flight?

  • Thanks for that Roy, the others were tending to exagerate a little :o  We shall be be bringing adequate survival supplies as we do travel on the M60 you know so have vast experience of multi hour short distance travel.
Yes my wife does know of my intention and says "Ranulph Fiennes, Alcala, phooey what a wimp" we would have persevered much further than that, remember, you are talking to 2 people that survived the day trip to Gomera last year :o and that had to start 2 days before due to the bridge out situation  ;D
Anyway, to have our winter fix at LG we would quite willingly walk and are prepared to eat any natives or ex-pats along the way, with a nice chianti of course  ;)

    Regards
