Taxi from Airport

  • Is the average size taxi able to take a family of two adults and three children from the airport or do you have to wait for the people carrier size? What's an approximate price from TFS to LG these days? Thanks

  • I guess roughly about 50 Euros each way. El Mar is cheaper but messy.
If only over for 1 week think about a hire car.

  • According to the official boards that are on display at the airport it quotes ?50.87 during the day and ?57.50 between 10,00pm and 6.00am or holidays.  The fare also includes the ?1.65 airport surcharge.

  • Thanks for advice on prices, but what about the seating capacity of the taxi for 2 adults and 3 children or will they all fit in a standard cab?

  • I suppose it depends on the age/size of the child.  Generally cabs are for 4 adults plus their luggage so if the children are little I think they should be fine.  If you have babies and want to get a child seat, then you should speak to the guy in the hi viz jacket who organises the taxis he will arrange for one and also a larger taxi should you need it.  They are kept on site so it will only be a couple more minutes you would have to wait for it to come around.

  • Why not rent a car fom Cicar for less than 40 euros and drop it off next day at their office in Puerto Santiago?  Also works going back.

  • Just before Christmas I walked passed Elmar offices in San Juan - and it was closed - looked like it had been shut up for some time.

  • Coming out again in March. We always book with El Mar - so would be very grateful if someone could confirm if they are no longer in business.  Would be such a shame if not as we have used their service for many years and never had a problem.

  • They are still in business and expanding. We have people coming out tomorrow and being delivered by them.

They may go around the houses but are cheaper than a taxi. 35? for one or two each way. 45? for 3 or 4 each way. Not each!

    Check their website. Easy peasy!

Taxi last time we went was nearer ?60 from Los G to Airport. Without the expected tip.

  • Renting is much better. We came out at Xmas and picked a car up from AutoReisen for less than ?120 for the week.  No excess, full tank of fuel (just return it full), free second driver and easy pick up/return.  You then have the benefit of visiting lots of lovely places around the island and relatively easy driving.
