Taxi Fares from the Airport

  • We will be coming over in 6 weeks time and I always book a taxi online from the Monarch website to pick us up.

Does anyone have a rough idea of the charges for a single trip and also any alternative websites to book so that I can see if the fares are cheaper.

  • The published, official, one way  taxi fare from Reina Sofia Airport to Los Gigantes is €57.81, but don't be surprised if the driver asks for more.

    Their website is here

  • Pablado - don't know whether you are a driver or not (indeed, whether you want to drive yourself) - the cheapest way to get from the airport to LG is to rent a small car from Cicar, pick up at the airport and return to LG at their office 24 hrs later, during this time you have use of the car to do your shopping etc.

I've just put in a sample quote on their website for 24 hrs from 12th Nov the charge for a Opel Astra or a Corsa is 24.62

That seems to be a really good rate and far cheaper that a taxi or El Mar

I dare say when/if you opt for that choice there may be a few extra quid to pay for collision excess waiver excess

  • I agree with LGK, Cicar is very good value.  I paid 31 euros for a Corsa, picked up at TFS, dropped off 24 hours later at Puerto Santiago office (they call it their "Los Gigantes" office).  The insurance is fully inclusive, except for lost keys and wrong fuel.  Child seats are f.o.c.  No deposit taken apart from for the fuel in the car at pick-up.  This is refunded provided the car is returned with the same amount of fuel.  (5 euros easily covers this).  The prices have dropped about 8 euros since March so I have booked (on-line) my next three journeys already as there is nothing to pay until the car is collected.  Both the TFS and LG offices are incredibly efficient - 5 minutes max for the paper work and never any queue.

  • Thanks for the tip on the car hire

But my holiday starts in the bar at Luton Airport while my wife looks in duty free and by the time we land I would have had a few beers to start my holiday :o

Along with the marina charge thaT everyone is talking about I won't have enough Euro's to treat myself to the usual christmas present of a Lacoste t-shirt from the shop in LG.

  • I understand a good offer was made for the shop and that it has been taken by either Lacoste or a Lacoste franchisee.

  • Agree with Jodie: El Mar do door-to-door service and very reliable (according to friends who always use them - we prefer to hire eg Autoreisen approx 10 euros/day out of peak season). El  Mar is 35 euro/couple 1-way to LG. We'd use them ourselves but prefer the convenience of the car, as we are not in central LG. Must be better than the taxis. ;D

  • Apologies, I meant to say 10/day, not 10 euros as above. This was Sept this year, though they don't seem to change their prices much - have used them for 10+ years.

  • I have just had a look on the Cicar website and indeed the price is under 25. Can anyone confirm the petrol situation, ie, When I have hired in the past (Goldcar) I have had to pay for a full tank of fuel and return it empty, which is fair enough if you have it for a week or two. I will be arriving at the North airport, so a car from there and dropped off near los Gigantes would be perfect, then I would do the same but pick up from Los Gig and drop off at the airport.
By the way, where is the office in Puerto Santiago?

Thanks for the reply, I have looked into the buses, unfortunately it is late evening when we land, so it is a bit of a no go. Taxi from the north is over 100 euro each way! I have sent an e-mail to Cicar to check out the fuel situation, so will wait and see.

OK - Cicar (Los Gigantes office) is situated in Puerto  Santiago just after the very tight bend in the road going out of PS (away from LG) go down the hill and their office is on the left hand side just before the Hotel Los Dragos.

  • With Autoreisen you return the the car with the same amount of fuel that was in when you collected it.
They dont charge for fuel like some renters. 8)
