  • There are a few Transito's close to LG, and also a Mercadona in Playa Arena. For good value though, try a couple of the local shops around the back at Vigilia (just up from the big roundabout|fountain)

  • There is a little shop called Simple Simon in the village Billi that supplies nearly anything you want for the start of your holiday. It is probably a little more expensive than the supermarket on cardiac hill but very handy if your accomodation is in the village itself.Opens about 8.00am and closes around 7.00pm or did when I was last there .

Dont take any notice of Sebastian. Hes always trying to be clever!!!

Both shops are next door to each other, if you walk up the hill from the hotel pass the bamboo bar to the top where the little island is in the road country garden also sell newspapers

  • Annie & 161 YO BILL No even i remember places like ASDA TESCO WAITROSE SAINSBURY'S, and i have not lived in the UK since 1996, as for the other 2 little shops mentioned they are always pleasant but they need to be as most things carry a little extra cents but then we will only get into another argument about village shops and there need for the older generation. Shame we dont have a Post Office so as to cash my war pension.

  • Billi I'm assuming you're not an owner as you say this will be your first visit so if you're renting in balcon I'm sure the owners will point you in the right direct to the suprmarket - we always walk to Transito in Puerto Santiago along the coast path and do a big shop then ask the checkout to call us a taxi but for late arrivals there is a supermarket called delfin less than 5 minutes from the front door, just go out the front door walk down the side of tamino tropical (apartments opposite balcon) past route 66 and a couple of restaurants and ypu will see it, if I remember corectly it is open until at least 10.  Incidentelly balcon de los gigantes is actually in Puerto Santiago and I'm sure you'll have a lovely time the apartments are (in my opinion) the best in the area -  although not everyone agrees as we will no doubt see

  • Billi - contrary to what WAGS says once you arrive I'm sure you will be really glad that you are staying where you are staying, apart from the fcat that the apartments are modern, air conditioned and well equipped the location is really good.

WAGS - aren't they vain airheadeds whose only ambition is too bag a a-z lister?  or maybe it stands for something else is LG

  • Billi, just ignore what Wags has said. CS is quite right. I'm sure you will have a great time at the Balcon. Here is a photograph I took of the Balcon only last year.

  • here you are billi i told you. you would wish you were in los gigs fair play to falstaff he's managed to catch the banana plant's to the left of the apartments for your fresh fruit but unfortunately the apartment blocks out the cows grazing for your fresh milk. but look at all that water in the background for cooking and washing i would boil it first though, but bare in mind you only get electricity during the hours of day light anyway happy hols don't forget the insect spray and dysentery pills

who needs supermarkets when all you need is on your doorstep.

  • Billi, the Balcon is a first class complex and I have no doubt that you will have an excellent holiday.

When you arrive, make sure you find out about the short cut from Puerto Santiago to Los Gigantes.
