My family are thinking of booking our holiday there and would welcome peoples opinion of it. The restaurants look very posh are they expensive? Is it a long walk into town?

  • Its got the best views in Los gigantes, down hill into town, but you can always get a taxi back, I have never eaten in the there, but looked at the menu, which looked  average.

overall I would say a good choice, and you could always use the service bus if you want to go out of Los Gigantes, and they drop you at the top of the hill, so just a short walk along the top.

    Hope that is helpful

  • My wife & I went for lunch in January as a precursor to having a dinner there but after being served chicken paste in a sandwich and ordering fries & got crisps at a very expensive price, also the staff did not understand English. We forgot about dinner.

  • We took a walk up the zig zag path to the Royal Sun when we stayed at the Los Gigantes Hotel over Christmas. We spent a nostalgic hour looking around  and were very impressed with the new look.

I was rather surprised to discover that they had not replaced the apartment  furniture or updated the   kitchen units. They  were just as they were  when it first opened  and  although rather dated they were still quite acceptable.

I see from the latests  trip advisor report that they appear to have reinstated the policy of paying for taxi rides back up the hill.  I never found the walk back a problem even on a hot day  if taken at a leisurely pace.

The thing I loved most about the Royal Sun was the panoramic views. We used to spend most of our time just lounging about on the apartment terrace watching the world go by.  The  new glass screens at the front of the terraces adds  to the  effect. Our friends once spent two weeks there and never left the complex. If you stay there take a powerful pair of binoculars and  a good camera  because the views are spectacular.

The Royal Sun can now be booked through Thomson.

  • Looking at that picture Falstaff I was always under the impression that any apartment TV dish over 1 metre was illegal. Comments please.

  • It wouldn't do for me to confined to a complex for two weeks either but there is no accounting for taste. Having said that, during my two weeks stay at the Los Gigantes Hotel I was very reluctant to leave the hotel my wife put it down to me having chronic diarrhoea. Going anywhere involved  planning a route close to accessible toilets.  I think the hotel  should produce  a  Los Gigantes Caught Short Toilet Guide.

Edward for your information I have attached a photograph which shows most of  the satellite dishes in Los Gigantes.

  • Two weeks and never left the complex. Jeez, I take it they ate and drank there. Did they never venture out to even buy water. What a waste.
