  • Has there been any development regarding the Royal Sun or is it still a building site?
    Thanks

  • the royal sun itself is not a building site but a mighty fine complex caught up in legal c**p not letting anyone do anthing with it but next door is now a building site with a bit of old development built in whch iwouldnt touch if you paid me but i guess its who you know that gets things moving!!

  • linda, did you ever go around royal sun, i remember it in its hay day.... and i remember my children being very small and the childrens pool was on a different level to the adults pool (and i mean a staircase of steps difference), there was no room around either pool for sunbeds etc. it was a nightmare!!!! and that big hill back to royal sun after dinner out in los gigs.... never again.    i think this place lives on somebodys alcoholic dream.....   there are far better places within los gigs/ pto santiago!!!

it is too far up the hill for comfort!!  no developer will look at it now as it is not practical and would cost too much to knock and rebuild, that is why it is a derelict building at present!  it will sit there like a white elephant until the developers have ran out of land within the close vicinity.

  • Janey, how can someone with your good taste and judgement have got it so wrong.

A picture paints a thousand words and here is a link to the work of an artist who has created a masterpiece.

  • The Royal Sun well what can one say. ITs rotting away and giving much needed accomodation for the family "COCKROACH" which must number 5 million a room by now. Just a sad thing on the hill, that will fall into deeper dis-repair as time goes by. heard that a survey done on "IT" estimated that it would take 25 Million Euro to fix up but i don't know how true that is, then of course the creditors need there 50 million so i guess it will become an eyesore on the hill just rotting away.

  • Hey Falstaff I agree.

So much about Janey's posts are inaccurate and this one about the Royal Sun is a great example.
The view from our apartment 501 was a view to die for and the pool area was never as crowded as she states when we were there. The fact that the children's pool was slighlty away from the main pool was, in our opinion, a bonus.

The walk up from the restaurants was not usually arduous even with a buggy containing a sleeping child and taxis were readily available for those not able.

I think that Janey has bought in the second rate Balcon de Los Gigantes in Puerto Santiago and is a trifle jealous of those like us who have a panoramic view in Los Gigantes itself.

I find it hard to think that the complex will be restored to its former glory and selling the apartments privately will be very problematic. The balconies are huge and whilst they are a bonus they are unrealistically large compared with the interior living space.
I find it hard to agree with Sebastian's rants but on this occasion he has got it just right.

  • falstaff, i agree with you about the views from royal sun, they were lovely which is what made the apartments, plus of course they were of a very good standard and with lovely large balconys,
my point was that the pool area/s were not suitable for todays holiday complexes, therefore to purchase and redevelop to create a suitable pool area would actually alter the whole building and would cost a huge amount!  probably so much that it would be cheaper to purchase it, knock it down and start again.   therefore the royal sun is only worth the cost of the land it is sat on, which is probably increasing yearly and the banks will probably sell it off in about 5 years when there is no land left and then make a hefty profit.

  • Seeing as the Royal Sun is likely to be out of action for a good many years is there any where else similar facing the sea in Lg on similar lines to the Royal Sun (Bars and Restaurant etc)?  My mother had an apartment at Club 2 which was excellent and we we were able to see the start of the Royal Sun !! No peace up there for many months during construction.

    Regards
    Chris

well, you've got me stumped now....., cannot think of anywhere commercial with a heated pool much higher than tamara unless its club one, ..... not seen the views from there, unless, maybe YOU are in balcon de los gigantes.... or gigansol?

  • its a shame about the royal sun, but i do not agree that tamara is a poor alternative i have just spent 3 weeks in :) tamara :) for the fourth year running and enjoy it very much its handy for everything yet very quiet no big hills etc and if i want a pool i go to the oasis!
the balcon los gigantes >:( is of course not in los gigantes so is not a contender in my book as for gigansol del mar the jury is still out ???
