Re the football ground, it was the Escuela de Futbol Municipal de Santiago del Teide, funded by the local council. I think it's now just called CF Puerto de Santiago. Anyone's welcome to go in and watch. It's got one of the best synthetic pitches I've ever seen and it enables them to play from morning until night. Run teams of all ages right from the very young children right through to a first team ( sometimes there is a charge of a few euros to watch the senior team ). Nice bar in the corner of the ground and a friendly lot of locals get in there and will be happy to tell you about the ground and the teams. Because of the cultural mix of the area quite a few people speak English if your Spanish isn't up to it. Fixtures are posted on a board in the ground and published in El Dia on a Friday. Go along and mix with the locals and broaden your experience of the area, and watch a game on a lovely warm evening with a nice cold Dorada. When ever I'm out there I turn up and watch some games. I've adopted it as my " Tenerife club " for my regular fix of live football.
The sports centre futher up the road has a great indoor pitch plus other great facilities including an indoor swimming pool, squash & tennis courts and gyms.
