Councillor Steve McKenna has requested we clarify the dates of the Puerto Santiago Fiesta as there seems to be some confusion.  A full programme of events will be posted nearer the time.

Sat 12th July ? Fiesta Joven (a concert for the youth ? and older youths!)

Sat 19th July - Fireworks

  • The fireworks take place on the small beach/harbour in Puerto Santiago.  It's best not to get too close.  A good place to watch is from the road above the beach.

The programme of events  will be on "what's on locally" (see button on home page) as soon as it is available.

  • Follow the road through Puerto Santiago.  The plaza is on the sea front.  You can't miss it.  There are streamers of flags everywhere, as well as a fairground on the main road.

    Have fun

  •  :-*Hello,
We have just found your site, and finding it very helpful. Hoping to come out again in Oct 2008, understand from people we met there last March that there was a festival/carnival of some sort on in Oct 2007. Will this be repeated this year, and if so does anyone know the dates?

    Thanks, creamtea.

  • I'm not aware of anything planned for October - at the moment.  However Fiesta/Carnival commission have regular fund raising events.   I usually get a couple of weeks notice of the final details.  Keep checking "What's on locally" (see button on home page) or bookmark this link http://www.losgigantes.com/evenings.htm

The next event is currently in the planning stages for the weekend of August 30th in Los Gigantes Plaza.

  • We decided not to take the video camera.  Parking was impossible and the kit is heavy to carry any distance.  As it happens where we were would have been too close for good shots.  It's nice that you have asked.  We usually go to Alcala fireworks by boat.  It's on 15th Aug so we'll get shots then.  Alcala will be competing with Puerto Santiago so it should be a good display.

  • Hello Creamtea, for some reason, there is a marked absence of festivities celebrating Virgens on the west coast of Tenerife in October. Where the Virgens go in October remains a mystery.

For October, the Santiago del Teide Council website only lists the Fiesta in honour of  la Virgen del Pilar, Las Manchas (north of  Arguayo) on October 12th  with no further detail.

However, if you have a hire car and care to travel further a-field, on October 3rd (or thereabouts) there are the Our Lady of the Rosary celebrations in Fasnia, El Rosario, Valle War.

On  1st Sunday in October the  Pilgrimage of Our Lady of the Incarnation, Adeje.

On  15th to 20th October Festival of Christ in El Calvario and St. Ursula.

And last but not least, 21st  to 25th  October (or thereabouts) the annual festival of Our Lady of Hope, Virgen de los Remedios and St. Bartholomew in La Guancha, Buenavista del Nort in honour of the town's patron. This is claimed to be a week long series of events, celebrations and processions, fireworks, music, sport, drinking and dancing.

But check these dates out with the tourist board when you arrive because the only thing I can absolutely guarantee on any of these dates is the drinking.
