Power FM radio station has closed.  Their last broadcast was yesterday afternoon, which I listned to while I was painting my bedroom.  It is sad news. The losgigantes.com team send best wishes to all the presenters who kept us entertained over the years.

  • Sorry to hear the station has closed, had many years of enjoyable listening and even on it once doing a live tarot reading! Best wishes to all there for their future.

  • I can't really say I'm too bothered by the closing as the station had gone down hill over the past few years.

A friend of mine sent me this link to a site which has a lot of old stuff from the station if any one wants to have a look.

    Enjoy. http://tinyurl.com/38c8rzw

  • I will miss it definitely. I liked the quiz in the mornings, and the weather reports on cloudy days giving us an idea of when it would improve, gave us time to plan other things. :'(

What station should we listen to now?

    or

    QFM

Oasis is not amongst my favourites.

What we have lost is the some of the local feel of Power FM

Why not try a Spanish station?

Radio Gigante suits us. Good music and a bit of chat.

  • I?m surprised it survived so long in its current format.

Unfortunately this is what happens when the people put in charge of a business employ their family and friends. 90% of the DJs were PANTS and should not of been on the Air, It was only a matter of time before this happend.

If you were put in charge of the England Football Team you wouldn't bring in you Wife, 2 best pub buddies and 3 Karaoke Singers to play for England, would you ?

Come to think of it, they way they just played in the World Cup it might just work....... But it didn't for Power FM.

It all went down hill the day Gavin Watson sold it..............  :(

  • what is it about this board that attracts the Muppet's like Mr fuzzy bush if you have nothing good to say best keep quiet I've been coming here for years and power FM was always a favorite. If you went to the studio you were always welcome, and all of the presenters recognised they were on a local radio station and for most, not all, that was as much as they could hope for they knew they weren't international mega star presenters but they entertained, and informed.

  • So Shania, you expect everyone to give positive remarks about every subject discussed on here !

This is a Forum to discuss peoples views on different subjects.

I have listened to Power FM for years too, as I live here.
Power FM was my favourite too.

Until it went into its last format.

The presenters were dire. Even near the end there were daily technical problems with presenters pressing the wrong buttons. Constantly laughing at their own jokes, which were not even funny. Playing the same sketches over and over and one presenter "KK" sounded like she was being filled with formaldehyde whilst she was presenting.

In its day it was good, maybe very good, but at the end it was very poor, AND THATS MY OPINION !

  • I really don?t understand why only positive opinions can be posted.  If someone differs they are pounced upon - why opinions are like noses, we all have one  ::)

  • Negative comments aimed at individuals, businesses etc will only be allowed if the poster proves his true identity at the losgigantes.com office

We have had times when someone has signed up on the forum simply to criticise their competition.

It is also hardly fair when someone starts off a rumour about a business or an individual and that person or business does not know who they are up against.
