Photo of La Gomera from Los Gigs

  • I wonder if anyone reading this would be able to help us ... here in the UK, we are doing a spot of decorating and have a bare wall which could do with a mural.  We would like to include a view of La Gomera as seen from Los Gigantes (calimas permitting!) to help us through the yawning chasm until our next trip out.  My (artistic) daughter has volunteered  to do the painting ... but we need a suitable clear enough photo for her to work from ... so far, in searches through the photos on this site, and others, we have drawn a blank.  Do you have anything likely to be useful that you wouldn't mind passing on (electronically) ?   Or if the visibility is reasonable, maybe one of you "on site" might be able to take a pic or two for us?  We would be very grateful - and a photo of the wall in question, once painted, will of course be posted on the site ....

Thanks for reading all this - roll on September!

  • I have a good, panoramic, picture of Gomera taken in March this year.  Let me have your e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you.  Do you have a broadband connection?  If so I will send it uncompressed.  Juan.

  • Having received an emailed photo from "Juan Tanemera" in April, now that the wall is finished and the painting unveiled, I tried to send him photos ... but the email address I had for him now does not seem active ...  anyone know where he is?  I did also try to upload a photo to this site ... but the file is too big! ... help ...

  • There you go.

The maximum photo size you can post on this website is 1 mb i.e 1000 kb.

If you have photo editing software, the first thing to do to reduce the size of a photo for publishing on the internet is to reduce resolution to 72 pixels/inch because anything over 72 will have no additional impact on quality on the internet and just wastes space.

So, if reducing the resolution to 72 results in an image still in excess of 1000 kb, the next thing to do is to reduce the dimensions of the image, taking the largest size down to about 1200 pixels (the other dimension will scale down in proportion).

You have a  very attractive  mural Vegie Visitor, but where are the ducks? ;D ;D ;D

  • If you look very closely you can see them - next to that couple of leaping dolphins to the right of the fishing boat (you may find a glass of wine before looking again helps enormously - we did!)  Incidentally the young lady at the left-hand end of the picture is my daughter who designed and executed the "work" (assisted by yours truly on second paintbrush), and the bloke on the right-hand end built the wall.
    Many thanks for your help.

Sorry, my e-mail address has changed.  Liked your painting though.

You are welcome!  For some reason I dissapeared from the forum when I changed my e-mail address, hence my reduced membership status!
