  • Sounds lovely, if not a bit hairy at top out. I would at least wait till recent volcanic activity is confirmed to have stopped. You may need a quick exit should cap blow on Teide. Anyway 15 years isn't old, not with a few of the craft in the LG marina, even some of the pontoons look more seaworthy.

  • You're right Pilgrim, as some of the boats were already old when we bought ours, and they are still there now - and I won't go into how some of the locals drive them!  Might be an idea to keep it for a quick getaway - never thought of that but does make you wonder with all the recent activity.  Guess we would be safer at sea - or would we as tidal waves come to mind!

  • A few years back I enquired about purchasing a share/buying into a boat in LG, having had a boat share successfully in med Spain for a number of years. I did have some interest, but it seemed to fall away, it was not about the money as it never got that far, but something that was not seen as necessary by the owners in the end. So I managed to get an inflatable (zodiac type) shipped out, and bought an outboard on the Island. This I keep in the apartment and take down to the marina during our holidays, and pay to keep it on the visitors (small craft) pontoon at the end, for a week or two each time. It keeps me fit (humping and blowing up), and gets me out of the way (wastes a couple of hours), trying to catch the odd fish (minnows normally). But joy! a life on the ocean wave (it looks that way in the magazine).

  • We wondered about a Zodiac too Pilgrim.  Funny, because we have a boat share but our partner can't afford it any more so now we're wondering whether to sell.  I would really miss having a boat and a rib could be the answer.  What size is your boat and how small when deflated?

  • Hi Beanie, it is an inflatable 2.7m with transom to take small outboard, I have a 6hp. All very basic, no wheel, just motor tiller arm. New model so has an inflatable pretend v hull, but not a rib. Can all fit into back of hire car, and then wardrobe back at apartment. It gets me and another adult or two at a squeeze, down to masca, or on my own down to lighthouse if sea calm. But if a little wavey, she will take on water so allways need a bailer can - not for the fainthearted - just stupid people like me. But am one of the few who wear a lifejacket.
