  • It's only a proposal by the council at the moment.  My opinion is they should be considering how to create more parking in the area, not restrict what few spaces the village has now.

How much longer are they going to allow the new car park in Puerto Santiago stand empty?  At this time of the year many residents can't even jump in their car and go shopping as they know there will be nowhere to park on their return.

  • The car park at Puerto Santiago is a money making development that has now stood idle for how many years?  Can the council not get this up and running?

No more than they can do anything about the monstrosity next to Colonial Park, nor the eyesore left rotting between Puerto Santiago and Playa Arena, or finish the pavements ..............

  • The new barriers down at the Marina are working fine. Only problem is the traffic is backed up past the Tamara roundabout and the Oasis car park is full. Nearest parking is Crab Island and that is filling up fast.
Anybody driving into the village today will not be able to park.........so they will turn around and drive out of the village and go to Alcala or San Juan.
The car park at Puerto Santiago has been completed for near enough 4 years. The dispute between the builder & Unelco is going through the courts so it could be another 4 years before it opens. The Council says it is powerless to do anything about it.

  • Even when the "new" - (which by default is quickly becoming old) car park at Puerto Santiago opens - I doubt very much that it will be used to any extent - until and unless car parking on the streets is restricted either by permits or pay and display and /or double yellow lines

As things stand at the moment even if the car park opens, who is going to pay to use it when they can park on the streets for free (always supposing they can find a parking space)

The parking problem around Tamiamo Tropical is a headache as more often than not no parking spaces are available in the evenings - so motorists wanting to either visit the hotel or one of the many restaurants in the area are struggling to park in the vacinity.

Me thinks that a large majority of the cars parked in and around LG are actually "hire cars" waiting to be hired out - if these could be taken out of the equation there may be more room for motorists who are actually using their vehicles and hopefully coming into LG and the immediate area and spending money.
