Thanks for your responses, particularly the positive remarks about Sun. I will give them a go.
I didn't want to bore you with the details of my reason for not wanting to use El Mar, so skip this if you wish. I booked a bus for 13 passengers, LG to LA, to go to the Bitter & Twisted dinner show (which is excellent, by the way). This was meant to happen last Moday evening. To be fair to El Mar, I did not book the transport directly with them but booked both the transport and show through XXXXX in Puerto Santiago. Big mistake! I specified that I did not want to use El Mar, as I had had a previous no-show experience with them, and was promised compliance with my wish. I pre-paid XXXXX 130 euros for the bus, with the show to be paid on arrival. Fortunately, as we failed to arrive because the bus never turned up. I alerted XXXXX to this when the bus was 5 minutes late and they promised immediate action. One hour later we were freezing and received a call from XXXXX to say there would be no bus.
I contacted XXXXX and El Mar on Tuesday. XXXXX said it was between me and El Mar, El Mar said they could only refund XXXXX. I persisted and eventually arranged for a refund of the full amount from XXXXX. After several unanswered and non-returned calls I eventually agreed to meet with XXXXX outside their offices (now apparently closed down). I was refunded the full amount, less 10 euros which, after protesting on the principal of the matter, was promised for delivery to me today. Guess what - no 10 euros and calls unanswered by XXXXX. So I called El Mar again and was advised that they had refunded the full amount to XXXXX. El mar admitted that they had been paid the full amount in advance by XXXXX although they had to make several trips to XXXXX's office to obtain this. However, they had forgotten to log my booking! Hence, no bus.
The result of all this....13 very dissapointed people looking forward to a pre-Christmas bash; Bitter & Twisted's theatre venue down 12 covers; four days of unwelcome stress trying to sort this out.
So, be wary of El Mar, although they have apologised profusely (sadly, for the second time in my experience). Don't pay anything in advance. I can't even bring myself to suggest what you should do with XXXXX. Fortunately for everyone, it looks like they have closed their business.
I didn't expand on the identity of XXXXX because (a) This thread is about El Mar, (b) XXXXX is apparently no longer a threat to the population (c) I frankly can't bring myself to mention their name.
