I called the number on the advert for the markets and was advised there is a dispute between the organisers and the Council and that the market would remain closed for "several weeks". Sounds like another own-goal for the Council. I thought they would be too busy manufacturing sand for the beach to have time to mess with the market, which must attract dozens of money-spending tourists and provide employment for a lot of locals. I don't think the shopkeepers can object to the market - after all, markets were in existince long before shops were invented. Hopefully, normal service will be resumed soon, as we miss the fresh fruit, veg and home produce.
