  • Is it worth bringing my lap top. I am short of luggage alowance lots of other stuff to bring. How likely is it to get a free wifi connection, is there a internet cafe in LG, thought I read something about people sat in the foyer of the barcelo santiago with laptops. I would consider subscribing to canarian wireless if it can be reccomended?

  • Hello soup star,
There is at least one internet cafe in Puerto Santiago.
Most of the bigger hotels have wifi, but you might have a problem if you are not a guest in the hotel.
I had Canaries Wireless for 3 years and it is ideal for short term. It faster than dial up but slower than broadband.
I would suggest that you contact them on 0034 922 862 713 or www.canarieswireless.com. to arrange a visit when you arrive.
Hope this has been of some help.

  • take your lap top to 'oasis'. they have wireless connection there and for the price of a drink/lunch you can log on. if you dont take your lap top, they also operate a small internet cafe with about 4 computers.

other than that, puerto santiago has 2 internet cafes.

i also read on this board that there is wireless down on playa arena beach????......  tried barcelo santiago out, and no, you cant log on!!

  • CanariesWireless signal can be received in most areas from Los Gigantes to San Juan – but not all, soon the signal will be available in Calle Salvaje, Playa Paraiso and beyond.
If you find you are not getting a very good signal, or you want a more permanent connection to use your lap top in say a back bedroom then give us a call.  We have various boosters available and our techs will visit you in your apartment to survey and advice.
If you are only here for a week or two and it is not worth getting the extra kit to boost your signal there are many hot-spots around the area where you will get a very good signal and a good beer. In Los Gigantes, The green Corner and  The Oasis,  Pilgrims in Playa Arena,  CanariesWireless office or Sunflower restaurant in El Varadero – to name a few.
Any problems signing up or logging on, call our office on 922 862713 We have English staff to assist you.   Open 10am – 5pm Mon – Fri.

Nothing was too much bother can thoroughly recommend them all. No I'm not on the payroll but I wouldn't mind joining if they want a willing gofor!
