  • Margaret, Peter, Roy, Sue, Alan and Sue of 'The Family' were very upset to hear the news about John Cummins 'crossing the bar' and wish to pass our deepest condolences to Joanne, Paul and Joanne on their loss.   He will be deeply missed as he was a great mate and always had time to pass 'the time of day' with his friends.

  • Our sincere sympathies go to Joanne, Paul and Joanne.  John was one special guy and will be very sadly missed by all. He always had a knowing and welcoming smile and made my husband and I welcome from the first day we met him 2 years ago.  This is a very sad time for all who knew him.:'(

  • What a bad year this has been, where will it all stop, the main characters, the people who matter, all crossing over and leaving us behind, VAYA CON DIOS, go with God John, have a crack with them up there, and have the drinks ready for us on arrival, you will be dearly missed and mourned. Words are not enough for Joanne and the family, take care, we are all with you. Nikki XXXX ( formerly Las Rosas, now Astliz) :'(

  • I am just so sad to hear this news, can hardly believe it.  We first met John about 12 years ago and saw him last just a month ago.  Any future trips to Los Gigantes just wont be the same without seeing him again.  Love to all the family

  • According to John Dixon Pryde who works in the bar.

There is a private cremation service on Monday and a memorial service in The church at Los Gigates at 2.30 on Tuesday and afterwards at the bar.

  • Unfortunately we cannot be at John 's service in Los Gigantes as we now live in Stratford upon Avon. UK but we would like to know how the service has been today. Any type of report please as we have lost so many friends in Tenerife lately. We will be on the Island in November and wish to see Joanna then. Best regards. Roy & Jill . ex Calypso Bar. Many Thanks.

  • As previous residents and Bar owners (ex Bar Calypso) of Los Gigantes, we knew John Cummins well. A magical entertainer, once bitten by his humour and singing, never forgotten. It was our priviledge to have met and known him. We would like someone who had attended his church service last Friday to please give us a short resume of the occassion as we will be seeing Joanna in a couple of weeks and do not want to say things that may upset her.  regards, Roy & Jill

  • On behalf of my family and I, I would like to thank you all for your messages of condolence.  The support given, especially to Mum, cannot be expressed.  My Dad was a remarkable man in life to me and continues to be so, and as such it has been comforting to see that many of you felt the same. On Tuesday, Dad had a send off that would have overwhelmed him.  I don't need to say anymore as Peter Jay summed the day up fantastically in the local paper (http://www.thetenerifesun.com/

Thanks again to you all.  As Dad would say, the show must go on, so see you all again soon in TJ's

  • Why has this subject dried up?
John was one of those 'characters' that lit up Los Gigs and made life for the people that knew him, and TJs Bar what it is.
What is the latest on poor Joanne and is TJs still one of the centres of LG?
Unfortunately we cannot make it out next month due to illness but hope to do the trip at the end of April.

  • I think that after everyone paid their respects that they felt everything had been said. You will probably have read about the musical tribute that they held at TJ's on what would have been Johns birthday. Joanne was recently in fine form at the xmas lights switch on. Obviously one would feel that its going to be a somewhat sad xmas for Joanne this year, but knowing the trooper that she is as her daughter said "The show must go on". I feel we should all show our support.
I will really miss Johns usual closing comment:
"Goodnight and Godbless, it's been a financial pleasure havin yer!"
    He will never be forgotten.
