Hi am just at the planning stage at the moment but am thinking of coming over for two weeks in the summer with my son, a friend and her daughter. How would we go about getting someone trustworthy, kind and fun for the two weeks to help us out for about eight to ten hours a day with caring, entertaining and babysitting the children? The difficulty is my son who is six is in a wheelchair, is very disabled and needs special care and help with everything.  How would I be able to find a special needs carer and what would be the approximate cost?  What else would I need to do besides paying them? Although I can speak Spanish I think the person would need to speak at least a little english so they would be able to communicate with the other child. Thanks for your help.

Am still hoping that someone will be able to tell me the name of the group playing after 1am on New Years Eve who sang "Mentirosa"?

Why not bring a Carer with you?

Hi Paulina,

I am passing your question to Mary from the Santiago del Teide Lions Club.  Mary deals with the help line and may know someone who can help out.

Leave this to me for a day or two and we will get back to you.

Hi Orange, I have thought about bringing a carer with me and it is a posibility.  However, the downside is it would be very expensive, because as well as the two weeks wages, I would have to pay for their return flight, hotel and food.  If I rented an apartment then I would need a bigger one with an extra bedroom.

Hi Dolly, Thank you very much for passing my querry on.  I have also left an answerphone message for a special needs carer that I found on the web and am waiting to hear back.

It is getting really cold in London,  have had my heating on constantly tonight. I wish I was back there - I felt really at home when I visited and found everyone very friendly.

Thanks for your help.

Hi again Pauline,

I have spoken to Mary from the Lions Club and she was asking me questions I couldn't answer.  I have sent you a private email with her contact details.  If you could get in touch with her she may be able to help you.
