  • Hi I noticed that you have the hill climb scheduled for th 5th October, the date is actually the 4th, the race is always held on a Saturday,
this will also be the day for the animal day fete in Los Gigs so for those wanting to go to animal day, you may need to go the long way round.

  • Thank you groovers - nice to know someone is taking notice.  The "Whats on locally" page will be altered accordingly.

The hill climb is really not my cup of tea.  Are there enthusiast out there who would like to keep this board up to date with the events leading up to and during the event? Good articles and photos can be emailed to me and will be posted on the local news.

  • Subida - Tamaimo car rally

Note - The road from the junction at the police station to Tamaimo
will be closed from aprox 8.30am - 5pm

There are aprox 120 cars taking part, each car has 2 practice runs
    followed by a final run.

All cars are usually on display in Puerto Santiago (by the plaza) on the Friday evening. I will confirm this when we get the final information.

  • Ok, folks - as I understand it you will be able to access LG from the police station but not go to la Caldera or Tamaimo or Garden Los Gigantes, or even Lolo's garden ctre.  However, the new road from opp Transito San Francisco is open but bloody dangerous on work days as there is a lot of construction work going on , and drivers of vehicles coming out of a building plot can't see if anyone is on the road 'cos of all the metal fencing.  The safest bet is to use he new road only on weekends - oh,yes!!  Despite my reputation I know Oct 4 and 5 are weekend days!!!  Not in the grave yet!  Problem is that to get to LG from San Fran Transito you have to go down the new road, turn right, and again turn right at the Fisherwoman roundabout.  Up 'hill to Col Parque and then down again.. And, can't even get a drink at the new hotel without a bracelet!!

  • Dolly I've just found out that there is only 1 practice run followed by 2 Qualifying runs.

I'm working on getting the full list in detail of the cars taking place.

  • This years subida a Tamaimo, sponsored by Coansa Seat, sees the 34th annual car rally of the Tamaimo hill climb.  This year, 350 metres has been added to the track which will significantly alter timings from previous years.

According to the website there are only 76 entries (normally 100 +).  http://www.subidaatamaimo.net/inscritos.htm

  • Latest update on the Tamaimo Hill Climb

The Carretera General a Puerto Santiago (Main Road outside Apartments Eva near road entrance to Los Gigantes) is going to be closed to traffic during the event. Now we know where they are getting that extra 350 metres this year, but that's not all as from 16:00 Friday the 3rd of October parking is not allowed either until the end of the event.

So i think they are closing the whole road from the round about in San Fransisco to the entrance to Los Gigantes leaving the new road open to traffic but who knows.

  • It is probably more down to commerical then council matters
    that it remains closed.

No sign of a commerical tenant(s) for the units there.

  • I did mention the matter of the car park to Councillor Gerald.  He said that it's nothing to do with the council, it's privately owned.
