  • At my place of work yesterday there was an email explaining that basic hygiene practices must be applied due to an outbreak of the norovirus - this is in England.  This virus is by no means restricted to Los Gigantes but just gets talked about a lot more there on this website.

  • It may not be unique to Los Gigantes. But what is surprising is the amount of
reviews on Trip Advisor highlighting Los Gigantes area Hotels as some sort of epicentre.

No doubt there will be compensation claims and all this will run and run until settled.

The average payment is more then the basic whiplash injury in a car incident.

So I suppose if you want to make some money, get booked in...

  • My husband and I returned from two weeks in LG last Saturday and enjoyed a lovely time there - as usual - and no tummy problems - we ate out every evening.  We used anti-bacterial hand gel and followed normal hygiene precautions.  Will certainly return later in the year!

  • I cannot understand why some of you lot want to push Los Gigantes into self destruct.

can i also say that there is a certain person who contributes to trip advisor on a regular basis whom has a grudge to bear with our little haven and does slag us off at the slightest chance.  i havent checked if he has been involved this time, but, i have 'reported' him to the moderator on trip advisor in the past and his posts have been removed more than once!

  • Just got back from a brilliant week in Los G, no problems whatsoever and we ate out most lunchtimes and every evening.  Thought the restaurants were much busier than the last time we were there in September.

  • At the end of the day, this bug is around the whole of the Canaries, not just LG!!! We had it at christmas, it's rife in England at the moment, I have 3 people out of 6 in my office off sick with it, it just keeps going! Hopefully it will be cleared over there by the time we get back at xmas.

  • Perhaps it will calm down with all those germ carriers from the UK unable to get here...

  • Note all messages re "the bug".  My husband, myself, son and daughter in law arrived on 29th December mid afternoon.  At lunchtime the next day, he said he didn't feel very well.  By evening, he was extremely ill with the virus and had been nowhere near Los Gigantes Hotel.

  • Please, please, please. If you took the trouble to read the whole thread you will have noted that several sufferers, including myself, had not been near the hotel and the hotel was not being blamed.

In fact I started the topic reporting my illness and on the 4th January I posted a comment stating that the hotel was not to blame for my illness as I, too, had not been anywhere near the place.

Therefore there is little reason for your posting other than the fact that you wanted to report that either your husband or your son had been ill. Your posting was non-specific as to which male of your party was ill.

As the incubation period for this virus is 24-72 hours your husband/son must have had it either before they arrived or picked it up on the plane.

  • Holiday reviews on this are getting lighter.

Hopefully the Hotels and other places will use this quiet period to perform a deep cleanse.

Even if as we are told here, they are not responsible for outbreaks.

One matter of concern in reviews is the closed beach.
