Heatwave

  • It’s rather hot here in Los Gigantes at the moment and the heat wave which is affecting most parts of the Canaries is set to stay for another two days, forecasters predict.

Gran Canaria, La Gomera and El Hierro will continues to see the highest temperatures in the region (up to 40šC in some cases), while Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will be slightly cooler at around 35šC until Wednesday.

The best place to be today is under the water diving, with a lovely cool water temperature of 22 degrees.

  • Yes we are all here for the lovely weather, but believe me at the moment it isnīt lovely. The heat is oppressive and isnīt helping matters with the fires, so if you could send some rain over we are desperate for a little water here. The firefighters are doing a wonderful job and hopefully the fires will be under control soon and to think these men are not getting paid for what they are doing. The fires arenīt as bad in this area as they were five years ago. We got evacuated at 4am which was pretty scarey. Itīs such a pity as the trees had only just come back to their magnificant green again, even without rainfall.

  • It is currently 35C a couple of miles above the southern resorts, so assume it is something similar in the west.  The yellow alert for hot weather at least for Tenerife should end this evening  at 21:00 then hopefully back to normality.  Image

  • It is currently 33C under the awning on my patio.  I know it is getting warm in the UK, they are planning on having their own heatwave by Wednesday so probably we will hear all about it on the news that Torquay is hotter than Tenerife  ;D ;D ;D

  • Raining hard here in Los G earlier. Heavy shower over quite quickly. Still a bit steamy.

  • No wind up.  Enough rain to make a dusty mess of cars, windows etc. and make the humidity even highter.

  • yep the rain came and went, big drops and the dog wouldn't go out in it, but then it didn't last long. Warm rain too, nearly as warm as the water coming out of my cold water tap.

  • The weather has been lovely the past few days with temperatures around 28-29C and a nice pleasant breeze to stop it feeling too hot.  As of Thursday though we are on Yellow Alert for another heatwave with temperatures predicted to be +34C
