Flights to Los G

  • Poor old Los G!
How much more of a battering can it take ?
On top of the "letting" debacle, the  cost of flights seems to be going through the roof!
As well as costing so much more, there seems to be less of them too.
I LOVE the village and will continue to visit, come what may ,but fear that it is going to
go beyond the reach of many.

  • My flight from Gatwick for January 2013 is cheaper than January 2012. Not as many flights though.

  • I agree book early, I've just booked for April 2013 and October 2013

Jet 2 from my local airport

2 people return - total bill for everything 514

less than we've paid for 2012 and from East Midlands which we usually don't book as it has been too expensive in the past. Our October flights this year were 60 more than I've paid for 2013

the secret seems to be plan a long way in advance

  • Yes, booking early is the best way. We have to come in the school hols so it's always quite expensive but we booked last November (easyjet out/jet2 back) and it was quite reasonable. Can't wait to get back to LG! ;D ;D

  • Doesn't matter about the doom and gloom, the reaction of most people is " Can't wait to get back ". The place must have something going for it.

  • I have lived here for almost 22 years now.  Yes there are problems but no worse than anywhere else on Tenerife or indeed the whole of the Canary Islands. Many other places in the world are suffering from recession not just us.  We have no hurricane or monsoon season, those of us living on the coast have no heating bills

There are few places in the whole world that can boast a better climate.  There is alway something to do, always somewhere to go, its an absolutely fabulous place for a good social life - but it won't come knocking on your door you do have to make an effort, but it's there if you look.

There is no where in the world I would rather live and my kids and grandkids will back me up on that one.  Whatever my mood - the sun is shining it is never cold and our view of the sea and cliffs certainly takes some beating.

This place certainly does have a lot going for it.  Chatting to people here on holiday the comments as Dablar said "Can't wait to get back", "Sorry it all over too quick", "What a wonderful place to live"  etc.

  • Can't wait to get back in January to see all my friends in the area. Wonder where the Stragglers will be playing then.

Hi Dolly  -  totally agree with everything you say about LG.  I'd love to live there but am happy that I get to spend a couple of weeks a year (for the last 26).  I must admit that I don't like the negative comments I sometimes see on here about LG - to me it will always be my happy place (and no I don't have rose coloured glasses on).  I love Los Gigantes and it will always feel like home.  It's beautiful, friendly, very pretty and I will never, ever tire of the view.

I first visited when I was 21 and fell in love.  Just need a lottery win now to move out there for good!

We'll be back for our 2 weeks of paradise on 17th Aug.  Counting days, minutes, seconds......

Great post Dolly, everywhere in the world has its problems, but I would rather be here than anywhere else for all the reasons you have given as well as the people who generally are lovely and will rally round when you need a friend or a helping hand.
