  • Its still far to early to book Christmas flights. I got mine for 50 pounds from Tenerife to Manchester and Man to Ten on the 11th november last year.

Ive just been on www.skyscanner.net they are showing now : 14th Dec Manchester to TFS then returning to Manchester on the 9th Jan all inclusive for 260 euros which is 209 pounds at todays rate.

209 pounds is notr bad if those dates are okay. otherwise wait till closer the time and take your chances.

    GOOD LUCK !

  • We've just paid ?305.00 each from Manchester flying out 9th Dec returning 6th Jan with Excelairways.  Been looking for a while at all the options and this was the best I could get.  Only problem is, as we are there for a month the 15kg that was allowed with that price wouldn't be enough, so we've paid the extra ?20 each for 20kg. When I checked a few days later these flights weren't even available any more!! To be honest this is the cheapest we've ever paid for Xmas and New Year.  In previous years its been ?360 on average.  Just wanted to be sure we had our flights definitely sorted out, wouldn't want to be anywhere else at that time of year.  We'll be there to make sure we spend all our hard earned euros in your gorgeous village and support the local restaurants (and of course the bars!!)  Hope you get lucky.

  • Finally Monarch came out with some cheaper flights and got booked up for ?270 including all fees/taxes etc going out on Tuesday 16th December and coming back Tuesday 6th Jan. Can you believe they actually make you pay for a seat too, as if you have a choice in standing up or something, it's ridiculous all these extra charges.....BRING BACK BA

  • Just a point, can people please say how many people the price for when quoting prices!!  I know some have, but others just post the quote, so it could be for 1, 5 or 15 as far as the reader is aware.

  • We shall wait and see what develops. With the rising cost of fuel it seems that the days of cheap(er) flights may be behind us. Reports say that an increasing number of Brits are planning to holiday 'at home' and competition in the Tenerife  flights market appears to be diminishing.
Our early booked Monarch flights for school hols in August are costing us about ?365 per person and then we are looking at an exchange rate of approx 1.19 euro to the ? on top of that for holiday expenses. We won't be eating in too many posh restaurants when we are there !

We are not planning on coming out for Xmas as flight prices are always more expensive for the school holidays and available choice of carriers is limited.
We can only blame the price of oil and the global credit crunch  ! Turkey at home in the snow it is then !

  • Today?s news makes depressing reading. Oil has reached $140 a barrel which will add 20p to a litre of petrol. Planes are slowing down to save fuel. There is a marked decrease in traffic volumes on motorways and everyone appears to be driving slower to save fuel. Blue chip high street retailers are issuing profit warnings because of falling sales.  Major building companies are on the edge of insolvency. Utility bills are predicted to increase by 40% this winter.  Mortgage lenders are calling in loans because people can?t  pay their mortgages.

In short disposable income looks likely to fall significantly and what do people do in such times- they cut back on luxuries and holidays are towards the top of the list of potential savings.

Last month (June) ?hits? to the Losgigantes dot com website fell by 29,000  on June 2007 ( a 34% fall).

Looks like the writing is on the wall for anyone who is brave enough to look.

  • Yes, go ahead and mock me you two. But far from being a doom and gloom merchant I am an incurable optimist always looking for a business opportunity which those who lack my  imagination and  business skills cannot see. While you two are watching the euro, the smart money has  one eye on the Nigerian Naira (235.93 NGN  to 1 GBP) and the other on  developments in the budget holiday market. Which is why I am taking on Fred Olsen this winter by starting a regular budget cruise line service from Liverpool to Nigeria, on to the Canary Islands and back to Liverpool. All transactions will be in the Nigerian Naira.

If its cheap fares and a guaranteed tan you are interested in Janey then why not sign up. Bring along your family and friends for a once in a lifetime holiday experience with  Falstaff?s  Cayuco Cruises.

Janey I am looking for some cheap oars (hope I?ve spelt that correctly).  Can you help?

Grockle, I presume you are referring to my 867 posts on this message board - 467 deleted. Or is that  468?

  • Falstaff, O sage and learned one, I should not presume to mock you. You are my role model. You shine out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark.

Will you be personally navigating Cayuco Cruises or will you just be paying the Ferryman ?

If you can do a return journey (for one) from a UK South Coast port to the usual arrivals destination of 'somewhere near to Los Cristianos' for less than eighty seven and a half thousand Naira then please direct me to your online bookings page. As chance would have it I have been left a considerable amount of Naira by a recently deceased Nigerian prince and it will be simpler for me to forward your bank account details to his agent than involve mine.

Your posts continue to bring forth much mirth and it is a shame that many appear to self destruct without explanation. It must have been something you said ???

  • I have telephoned Easy Jet and although the dates are showing winter flights on their website they say the flights should be out by the end of July for Xmas flights but to keep checking everyday because they could be released anytime now. I've booked my flight with Monarch now for Xmas but will keep checking Easy Jet to see what the difference is and may hang around next year and fly with them depending on price.

  • Friends have booked yesterday on Easyjet, Gatwick to Tenerife

Out 17th Dec back 1st Jan ?107.72 each icluding all taxes etc. hand baggage only. Last year they booked about a month later and paid ?320 each on BA for similar dates.

In January for a week ?61.67 each.

Nobody can complain at those. At those prices I would be happy to experience the crush on boarding.

Last year i got my BA flights for 99 quid return including taxes, the year before that was ?129 incl. taxes, so leaving it til then and getting it for over 350 quid the flights couldn't have been booked up til later in the year, i booked mine in feb last year.

  • We have just flown with Easyjet for the first time from Liverpool to Barcelona and to allay fears of anyone thinking of using them to fly to Tenerife. They were surprisingly as good as any of the other airlines.

Check in went smoothly, the flight went on time there and back. The crew on board were really friendly, but not over the top. And the best of all when we arrived back at Liverpool, the car was still there!!!!!
