  • Hi all coming to Los Gigantes for the first time flying out on boxing day.Staying at Poblado Marinero Apts would appreciate any general information or advice about our holiday and the area. We usually holiday in Greece in the summer so would like to know what the evening temps will be like sure it won't be shorts and sandals weather but would like some idea of what it will be like, Cheers

  • Hi Fabio
We are having awful weather here at the moment so hopefully over Xmas and New Year it will improve.

Heavy clothing is not needed but lightweight long trousers and a jumper or fleece would be advised.  Also pack a lightweight rain coat in case of a shower.

  • You are located right next to the harbour so have lots of boat trips you can go out on to see the pilot whales, weather permitting.

There is a lido area which directly overlooks the ocean which is great for swimming and sunbathing.  You also have a beach at Playa Arena, a bus ride or a good walk way, but well worth the effort. Tennis courts, crazy golf and The Oasis with internet connection.  Lots to do.

Lots of restaurants to choose from at every budget.  A good selection of bars and entertainment.
A small choice of shops that cater for most needs.
Supermarkets are available if you want to food shop further afield.

Temperatures at night are nothing like Greece in the summer, bring a light jacket or jumper.

A lovely place with great people.  Have a great time and hope the sun shines as I will
be there at the same time  8)

    Hi Fabio

If you would like to PM me your home email address I can send you some slide shows and word documents about the Los Gigantes, Puerto Santiago, Playa de la Arena area and others close by.  I don?t think I can attach these to the forum and if I can, I am afraid I don?t know how  :-[  but if I have your email I am more than happy to send you this information.

If you have any doubt, I am sure Dolly will confirm I am not about to mis-use your details.

    Best regards

  • Your posting made me laugh.  It's true, we arn't stranded in snow and most the time I am still in shorts and t-shirt.  Watching the BBC news at the moment reminds me of why I have lived here for 21 years - I hate the cold weather.  Looking at our local forecast the wind is due to swing round to the North which will calm the sea down, and skies should be clear for the next few days. So bring your shorts and swimwear Santa and I hope you enjoy your holiday.

Also remember to pack your dancing shoes.  There are big events on in the Los Gigantes square on Boxing night and New Year's Eve.
