Ferdinand Van Veldhoven better known as FERRY, who for many years prior to retiring owned Autoferries based on Los Gigantes Marina, died last night.

Ferry had a hip replacement some time ago and never fully recovered.  A coulple of weeks ago locals from the marina were concerned about his health and took him to the Green Clinic.  He was diagnosed as having a mild heart attack and was transferred to Candilaria Hospital, where he died last night.

Late afternoon most days Ferry stopped to have a chat with us all at the Dive Centre and to make a fuss of his favourite pal Shakie, our little Yourkshire Terrier, he will be sadly missed by us and all others from the Marina who knew him.

Condolences to his family, from the crew at Losgigantes.com/Los Gigantes Diving Centre

I have no funeral details yet.  Info will be posted here when it is available.

No news article on Ferry then? He was a well known figure in LG, I thought there would have been some sort of obituary on him, did he still have his Porsche. I remember it being in his showroom down on the harbour.

The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon in the church in Los Gigantes for family and close friends.  I will ask the question for you about an obituary on him.

Ferry no longer had his Porche, sadly he had a hip replacement and never fully recovered, he relied on his mobility scooter to get him around.
