  • Only 14 weeks and we'll also be arriving in Los Gigantes for Christmas. This will be our first ever Christmas away from home and first time we've been to Los Gigantes so, we're hoping for some nice warm weather (I know it won't be 'burn your brains out' stuff), what can we expect? Also, as we are renting an apartment on the Tamara Complex, do you have any recommendations for a nice meal out on Christmas Day?

  • Harry, if you want to eat at lunch time (i.e. about 2.30 pm) rather than in the evening, the only place I know of is Tajinaste, a short taxi ride out of LG towards Tamaimo (there is no problem with taxis on Christmas Day).  Glynis and Fred do a really good job, especially for children.  Phone number is 610 062 353 or  678 195 750 and you will need to book.  There are plenty of evening dinner venues for Christmas Day and I believe the Barcelo Santiago in Puerto Santiago (walking distance) is good, but there is limited availability for non-residents.  Tipsy Terrace would be my choice in town but I'm not sure if they are open.  Phone number is 922 86 84 32.  I'm sure there will be other recommendations.

  • Harry Mojo you are in for a treat.  Its a lovely place.

Not sure about Christmas dinner as we have never been there for that in years. Sure the locals will help.   El Marques do a Christmas night evening menu with entertainment.

As you say not burning, but it really is nice enough to get on the beach or by the pool.   Arena beach is a a little bit away from where you are staying but if you are fit and able its a lovely coastal walk.

Boats trips from the harbour, just a couple of minutes away from Tamara, well worth the effort.  Dolphins etc., beautiful.

Choice of restaurants and bars in LG and beyond in Puerto Santiago and Arena.

Have a fab time and might bump into you, hic hic  ;)
