  • Sorry Janey, canquote t help Iquote m afraid.

The new service number is the 477. I have been looking on the Titsa website for information about the service (www.titsa.com) but without success. Their timetables are available as a Pdf download

    http://www.titsa.com/archivos/ficheros/desplegable_horarios_interurbanos.pdf

but only the slower 473 service  is shown. I would think that they must update it very shortly to include the new 477 July service.

The Tenerife Sun report is here-  http://www.thetenerifesun.com/#4

If anyone is desperate for the information, the Titsa  lquote phone number is-

(+34) 922 53 13 00.   Perhaps Dolly could give them a ring when she surfaces.

Incidentally Janey, I recommend the timetables as a damned good holiday read.

  • "An express bus to Las Americas" - wow !! - why the exitement ?

If people are that interested in getting to Las Americas quickly - why don't they holiday there and they have it on their doorstep.
Frankly, I would rather distance myself from Las Americas, and anything that brings the place easier to get to - is of no interest to me whatsoever  ;)

  • Sorry Falstaff and all.  Dolly Diver is not getting involved with late busses to and from Las Americas.  Not my scene, but won't critisise because lots of holiday makers do enjoy the place.

I must ad, I was there a couple of weeks ago, during the day and the Veronicas area has certainly had a face lift, nice to see.  It will be even better when it is finished, whenever that will be.

  • I can well understand your aversion to late night buses Dolly.

Anyway, it is  nice of you to volunteer to take us all in your car to Las Americas one night and show us all the hot spots.  Iquote m sure there will be a drink in it for you.

Erm .... Some people will welcome the new express service (which incidentally appears to be running now).

Firstly there are those who work in Las Americas or Los Cristianos and will welcome their journey times roughly halved.  (There's also the global warming issue to consider!)

Secondly, if the service brings visitors to Los Gigantes and environs to spend their hard earned holiday money in some of our bars and restaurants I'm sure the local traders will be pleased.

    Silver lining to most clouds?

  • Well, I'd say that everyone is welcome, and on behalf of all our local traders, especially anyone with money to spend rather than anyone wearing a pretty coloured wrist band.

I presume you've not noticed just how many local shops, bars and restaurants have closed in the past few months?

It's busy down there - sadly however, as quiet as hell here and sadly not much sign of that changing in the near future either.

too true!  we need more people booking into apartments in los gigs and supporting the restaurants and bars!  the less people that do this, it is the local business's that are going to suffer.

i think 'all inclusive' should be restricted or even banned by the local governments as they are stopping tourist money circulating within the region!  i think(?) i can understand some people enjoying the hotel facilities so much they never want to step outside the entrance, but, i dont agree that everybody does!  all inclusive just encourages them to stay in.

OK - I concede, hands up if you work in Americas or Cristianos and historically caught the 473 each way each day.  Just as I thought.  I rest my case

  • Looking through your previous posts it seems that whilst you visit regularly you dont live here - on this basis may I ask how you would know just how many residents may or may not be grateful for the fast service?

And, whilst at it, interesting the new 477 seems to be pretty full most of the time - as before, lets hope its day trippers coming here to spend their money, otherwise you may well not have much to return to next time you pop over

  • Talking of LA and the bus service - LG and surrounding areas doesn't really offer much in the way of retail therapy if I need to get my fix (relocating in FEB'08), other than going to Santa Cruz where are the best places to shop in LA - is there a particular area or street with clothes and shoes shops.

  • Here's a thought.  If the new bus runs express direct to PLA & LC surely persons in LG will get the direct quicker bus there rather than the 473 which calls at various villages on route.   If that is the case presumably the only persons catching the "old" 473 will be travellers who specifically want to alight at one of the villages on route - so when they get off the bus the only passengers will be those that live in the villages who want to get to PLA or LG - not too many me thinks, so the 473 could become unviable to run - like I say just a thought  :-\\

  • tlg - I know you made specific mention of shops in PLA but have you tried Icod.  Its not as far as Santa Cruz and is surprisingly busy with lots of shops, great places within the town to sightsee and an abundance of cafes and restaurantes.

You can get the bus from LG although the journey takes some time due to the narrow and bendy roads.  A great day out for a change.  I have certainly not seen all there is to see there, and intend re visiting on my next trip over.  Who knows - we may meet up and you can buy me a coffee !!  :oI

  • The new express bus between Los Christianos and Los Gigantes is currently having problems with their new schedule due to the road closure in Puerto Santiago.

If the road is not repaired in 2 months then Titsa has promised to lay on a small bus service from Playa Arena to El Varadero so the express bus can continue unimpeded to Los Gigantes.

The 477 Express service operates on weekdays.  First departure from Los Christianos goes at 7.30am leaving every hour thereafter until the last bus at 8.15pm

Busses in the opposite direction leaving Los Gigantes  are scheduled at 6.15am and every hour until 7pm.
